LSU BSN Fall 2012 applicants
Thanks for responding!! I got my financial aid information. I accepted it and now I am racking my brain as to how I am going to come up with the $12k in "unmet needs". Should I appeal it and hope and pray there are some kind of scholarships? How did the "single moms" make it through nursing school without any monetary help? I will keep my job but I can only work every other weekend and I'm still not sure if that is enough. I DO have to pass the program!! =) STRESSED!!! I have faith that I have gotten this far on a wing and a prayer but that won't pay the entergy bill!! Can someone tell me more about scholarships and such.

Has everyone heard back from financial aid? I keep checking the self service site and it doesn't say I have anything pending, only a bill. Go figure. Hoping I am not the only one. I really wanted to walk into this program with my books in hand and a plan for bills, rent, and such. Crossing my fingers that I hear something really soon.

LSU BSN Fall 2012 applicants
Can anyone private message me if they currently use LSU's health insurance and/or planning to get it. I have made several inquires by phone and have read the website a few times and I am still stumped. I am wondering if I am to get insurance through school and have it paid for by my student loans, is it possible to sign up NOW, and use it to pay for the physical, immunizations, and such? That would be much cheaper. Just trying to figure out how much each visit would cost is making my head spin. Thanks!!

Does anyone have any insight for the insurance they they suggest for those who don't already have their own? AND, is there some where in New Orleans were it is cheap to get the physical and the rest of the shots? Last time I went to Concentra when I was sick it was $115.

LSU School of Nursing or Charity School of Nursing
I really didn't give Charity any thought. I decided on LSU nursing for reputation, location, price tag, and such. This is mainly because I want to go straight for the BSN, in case I never go back to school to further my education. I am certain that Charity is a superb program, and while doing my research on schools in the area, Charity was the most recommended by locals, mostly by people that never went to nursing school. I would apply to both in your case. I truly believe that you get what you take from these programs. After all, there isn't a HUGE market for NCLEX study guides, for no particular reason. Best of Luck to you and your future endeavors!

LSU BSN Fall 2012 applicants
I haven't posted on here in a while. I still haven't gotten a call for an interview. After reading this thread I started~ I am now in panic mode. Did everyone have their $50 check taken from their account already? I was never charged for the application fee. Which now has me wondering. I walked in my application just shy of the deadline. Hhhmmm!

Eeek! I procrastinated on studying for the Hesi!! I went on vacation and told myself I would study when I got back and ended up working for 12 days straight (lots of doubles). My only day off was the day of the exam! HA! So I told myself "Self, just take the Hesi as a practice test and don't stress about it". For the first time EVER, I took a test and didn't feel any anxiety! The down side however, is my hesi a2 score! I got a 72% combined. The class average is 79%. I knew I needed to go back over math problems because really how often do I use military time and ratios and such? I bombed that section so bad!! My fault! I also didn't fair very well in biology, chemistry, and a&p. There were a LOT of chemistry questions on the test that we never covered in class and I just got an A in Chem this semester! Hhhmmm.... since I cannot find a definite score for LSU, I am going ahead and turning this in with an application for Jan.15th. I am hoping that my 4.0 pre-reqs, 3.7 over-all GPA will counter balance. If not, I know I will kick the Hesi's %$^$%$&^ on the second try. I will actually study~ does anyone know someone whom got admitted to LSU's BSN program with good grades and a less than average Hesi? Totally should have crammed, but now I know EXACTLY which areas to focus on if I am not accepted with this score! I should be totally upset with myself, but I still have micro and fine arts to take this semester, so the best possible scenario is to get accepted. Worst case scenario, I finished this semester, take the Hesi again, and get accepted for Jan 2013 instead of Aug 2012!

In my head, I have already committed to nursing school as a full-time job +.... I'm just going to sleep when I'm dead. I have a 5 year old, and I will probably work on the weekends. I have been advised not to work, if I can help it. Is LSU generous with student loans and aid?
-
LSU BSN
Gotcha! I will probably go with the schools insurance, seeing as to how I am uninsured! I have micro left, too! Good to know!

LSU BSN
Oh also, what is your schedule like? What is a typical week for you, with school classes and clinicals? 8-5? I'm sure it varies for a lot of people just trying to get an idea.
-
LSU BSN
Kleinlg~ are we required to carry our on insurance once we start clinicals? I cannot recall seeing anything about this subject. I did however, read about such a topic when I looked into the Delgado program. Also, did you have any pre-reqs left to finish when you applied? Thanks for offering up advice! :)

I still have to take micro, fine art, and a humanity! After that I have completed everything they have asked for. What in the heck would I do with a whole summer off and a fall semester if I was pushed into the Jan 2013 class. I guess I can take basket weaving!! (kidding) =)

Wow! Your response was super quick! =) I'm gonna ride it out on a wing and a prayer and hope I have access to the Hesi scores to turn in with the Jan.15th application. At least this gives me a little more time to study for the Hesi. I was kind of freaking out trying to studying for finals and then taking the Hesi a week later! After flip flopping on the different nursing programs in the New Orleans area I finally put all of my eggs into the LSU basket! Crossing my fingers! My pre-req GPA is a 4.0 but I think I will be getting a B in chemistry this semester, and my cumulative has 2 C's on it (whoops) darn math classes. Still feeling totally hopeful.
