Hello everyone! Thank you for taking time to read my post. I need some advice regarding going into nursing informatics. I understand and have read many things on the forums regarding daily life, pros/cons in the field, and getting into the field. I do love working with technology and computers and I am definitely the tech person in my family. I know I do not want to work at the bedside for the rest of my career and I am about to hit my 1st year of nursing experience. I feel like I would thrive and diversify myself in informatics from the specialties in nursing. My family was having concerns about where I should go specialize and I really want to go into nursing informatics. However, my parents express their concerns about the field's job stability, retention rates and the bottom dollar value. They recommend to go CRNA route because everyone needs surgery needs anesthesia, and the pay can support a family in California. From that perspective, it makes sense. Their argument against informatics is that once a system goes live or when a system is already in place, the hospital will not need the informaticists or trainers any further and minimize the staff for better use of resources. I understand that there is not a perfect system in any hospital and that tweaks and updates are always needed in a system but the argument seems valid from a business perspective. If anyone in the field is able to offer some advice for me, it would greatly be appreciated. Thank you again for reading.

wow they accept 80? I thought it was less. I still haven't heard yet from SON. Which method did you find out if u were accepted? When do you think would be a good time to call them? I'm really nervous.

@Spiffyness I'm sorry to hear about that. Are you sure its the nursing program or about general admissions? Those are two different admissions all together

Sorry, its been a while since I was on this feed. I'm so nervous. I turned in my packet with all the completed forms. Seeing your guys scores is really scaring me. overall: 3.07 pre reqs: 3.00 TEAS: 84% Volunteer 100+ You guys are so intense....

Yeah I have volunteer work done. Also, I do live around the area haha. I think they still do. I took the IV on its last year. I did not know they had it changed until I looked at some of the applications.

My gpa is a 3.0 sadly and my teas are from IV at around 86%. I don't know if there are different scales when they select.

SDSU is my first choice. I really want to get in. What are your other choices??

Sorry, I don't think they round scores. I think the picking might have been cut down even more. The GPA cutoff this year is 2.8. I dont know how that will affect scores though.

Yeah, I really hope I get in. I get super nervous just thinking about it hahaha. I've heard so many rumors about the admission process. Do you guys think trying to add up points really help??? I looked at mine and it didnt look that great
