New to the medical field, Interested in CNA work- 1 day training?
The course from Craigslist prepares you to "challenge" the test and it is legit. However, there is so much more to learn and they aren't teaching it. If this is the route you decide to take, I would recommend you work the 11p-7am shift to build and master your skills. Good fortune to you!!! :)

CNA resume
Hello Fuentes!! /wave I am a new CNA with a little over 30 days on the job. I spent 22 years in the military and I have worked in hospitality and food service. There are several options available to you. Go to your local library and check out a few books. Consider googling "how to write a resume". You can also check your local Craigslist for resume writers. Oh, there might also be resume help available at your local community college. I recently "hired" someone from Craigslist to update my resume and I am pleased with the results. Gratz on getting certified, too!! :)

New CNA trying to develope a routine/issues with other CNA's
Hello Hajile!! I agree with Rainbowskin. And it sounds like this guy is on a power trip. I have been on my job a little over a month and thankfully my co-workers aren't like him. He sounds like he name should be Mr. Power Trip. I am also going to agree with Fuzzywuzzy, too. I don't know of anyone with the time to check a depends or change sheets for a drop of water. You hang in there you sound like you are doing a great job!!! Stand your ground, too. Mr. Power Trip is not your boss.

New CNA needs your advice.
Hello, I am a new CNA, older than most and retired military. I have been pondering attending a LPN program in the Tampa Bay area. But frequent day time appointments at the VA hospital would keep me out of class. My appointments do not interfere with my working my assigned shifts because I work the 11p-7a shift. I am new hire with a month on the job at a nursing home. But I am considering leaving because I want to learn and experience other aspects of being a CNA. My questions are... How do CNAs gain experience in other areas? Such as becoming a Restorative CNA? What other specialities are available to CNAs? I am a fast learner and interested in Home Health. Is there a 'recognized' program in the Tampa Bay area? I'm asking because I don't want to get scammed. There aren't any opportunities for advancement at my workplace. And I am considering leaving because I want more. I would appreciate your honest answers. Thanks so much, Florida CNA

not what i thought it would be like
Hello Caring1CNA!! I am sorry there is a lack of teamwork on your shift. Do you ask for help from your co-workers when you are behind?? Your heart is in the right place. And don't worry about your spelling, use spell check! It works for me. (:

For those CNAs who got hired straight into hospitals...
Magichospital, thank you for asking! Ytellu, thank you for taking the time to respond. I have had my CNA license since 2008 and never wanted to work as a CNA until recently. I am employed in a nursing home but I want to work at a hospital. This will be my second career, I am retired from the military . My resume is being revised and I am receiving the CNA job alerts. Magic, did you get hired at a hospital?? I will let you know when I get hired!
