PPD
Oh, ok. Gotcha. Just wondering. I've Googled a few things, and it seems to be more of a facility policy thing than anything. Thanks for you guys quick responses! :)

PPD
Well, from my understanding.... If the left arm is the standard, in the event an individual didn't circle it (like our protocol is at the hospital), then you would automatically check the left forearm, because that is the "standard"...

PPD
Hello nurses! Quick question: I was taught in nursing school that the left forearm is the standard for PPD, although you may administer in right forearm if for some reason you can't use left for some reason. Is this true? I'm asking because I said this to an LPN today, and she stated that she never heard/was taught this? Clarification, anyone.?

Update - Need 86 to Pass
Good evening my fellow students and nurses! Well, next week is supposed to be my graduation date - May 9th. But, I need an 86 to pass with a C. I don't know what has been the problem this semester. When I go to review my test, my professor said that I get the harder questions right, but the easier questions wrong. I just don't know what to do right now. I'm so sick. The thought of having to repeat a semester is scary. There is no shame in repeating, but when you have small kids that you've missed out on doing a lot of things with, the thought of repeating sickens me. My head feels as if it's about to explode, and all I do is cry. Any ideas, words of comfort? ....that would be greatly appreciated right now. UPDATE! You guys, I did it! I am officially graduating on Dec. 12!! I can't believe how fast the semester went by. The lowest grade I made this semester was 79.88...everything else, A's and B's. I have one more test, which is the final. At this point I can make a 30 on the final and still pass! I can't begin to tell you guys how excited I am. I would like to take my NCLEX as soon as possible, so I've been doing 75 questions a day for the past month. Ready to begin this new chapter of my life, and ready to get back to having a life. Thanks for all the encouragement!

Need an 86 to pass
Thanks guys! Well, I took the final, and got an 81!! ...so close... At least I get to come back in the fall. Very blessed to have so many fellow students, nurses, and faculty that are rooting for me. Excited for what's to come... Still hopeful that I will become a nurse in 2014!

Woo Hoo! Accepted into nursing program!
I just got my acceptance letter a couple of days ago! I remember thinking, "It's ok if you don't get in. It's ok!" ....and what do you know...I got in!! I jumped up and down and cried so hard it was probably frightening to those who saw me. LOL

Gordon College Fall 2012 hopefuls
Yep, that's exactly what I mean. It says that on our letters that we get after we turn in our RSVP form. If our grades drop below a C, then we basically get the axe!! I know a lot of people are on the borderline right now in some of their classes, so there is a good possibility that you could get in, if they decide not to retake those classes in the summer.

Yea, they are waiting for those of us who don't make the grades this semester, or who decides to decline their seat. I think you have a pretty good shot of making it on in, though. Keep the faith!!

A&P lab test
That sounds like how my A&P I professor was. For our lab tests, she would put bones of the skeleton on the lab benches, or muscles, or anything, and we had to tell what that bone/muscle was, the different bony processes, what it was connected to, and all of that!! We would rotate around the room at different stations. Bonus questions would be something like name the 12 cranial nerves and spell and list them correctly (lol). I made it out of there with an A though, but I worked for it. Right now I'm sitting on an 88 in A&P II, with two more tests to go in these last two weeks of school!! I hope to get out of there with an A too... What worked for me during all of that though is simply.... pictures!! I too am a visual learner. Tracing the outline of the picture in the book helps me too when I need to study. If this is A&P I, you are lucky because A&P II is where you get into the actual physiology more, and you really need to understand, not just memorize for that. But that's ok, cause I use pictures for that too...I do a lot of talking to myself, but we'll just call that self-teaching. You'll be fine. You want it, claim it!!

Gordon College Fall 2012 hopefuls
Yea, I believe we're going to have to wait until the 30th too. I actually went to the NAHS building today, and the lady who is responsible for mailing out the letters, L.B., wasn't even there and hasn't gave anyone any notification of when they actually will be mailed because the committee is not finished looking at applicants. In addition to that, I don't know if anyone went to the workshop at Gordon, "So, you want to be a nurse? ...what's it really like", but those students were told that they're going to accept 120 students, and that they hated that they had to deny a lot of people because a lot of us were qualified.... Did anyone go to that workshop to know if that's actually true or not?

I'm not getting in :(

Gordon College Fall 2012 hopefuls
Some of these threads on here make me so nervous and scared. Although nursing school is hard, I know it's not impossible because people have did it...are doing it.... I just hope that if I'm blessed to get in, I can be one of those who can say I've accomplished it too. Thank you MK126995. That was very helpful!

Ok.... does anyone have any solid information? LOL! I know we're going to run ourselves crazy talking about what we've "heard"... Anyone have a reputable source they've gotten their information from, like a nursing adviser?

Yes, I saw that too, joy, on old gordon college threads.... I don't know what's going on with them this time around though. Today is the 11th!! Let's see what happens this weekend!

I personally did not take that comment literally shawbowen628, and this is coming from an "older" student too. Everyone means well on this thread, kimsey whether one is going into the LPN bridge program, ASN/RN, or just touching down because they're already in the program, out working, or graduate education. We're all just wanting to become the best nurses we possibly can!
