  1. How important is selection of practicum experience? My last clinical placement request will be here shortly and I am so torn on what to request. I am doing my PNP PC, and have a NICU background, with some gen PEDS experience. I would ultimately love to work with infants, but not with the critically ill ones (thus why I did not go for an NNP). Does it make sense to do my practicum in a setting with primarily infants, or is that too limiting for when I graduate and need to find a job? Any advice is appreciated.
  2. These are all really great ideas! Thanks!
  3. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has any gift ideas for a preceptor/office? I am close to the end of my first rotation in a Peds office. The office is comprised of one doc, one MA, and one receptionist. I was thinking about something that they could all enjoy, so was thinking of food of some kind, but the doc is health-conscious. Any ideas are appreciated.
  4. I can’t speak to the difficulty of the program, but you could consider taking some additional classes to bring up your GPA more. Most NP schools are competitive. That being said there are always exceptions. Good luck on your journey ?
  5. Wondering if any of you had success with an e-book? There are some on eBay for <$10, so it would be a great way to save $. I did use some in undergrad and was wondering if anyone had an opinion on this?
  6. CONGRATS! That’s awesome! ??
  7. Yeah it’s just confusing since the Summer is just one course, before they made changes it broke down the whole thing to be around 40k for the program. If it is 5 semesters long, does that mean it’s 50k ?? I’m also currently in NICU, CONGRATS on your acceptance.
  8. Hi all, I received my acceptance email for the PNP program for fall 2020. I am wondering if anyone has figured out the cost? I am filling out my FAFSA now, but I think we are eligible for less subsidized loans. I am confused by the one UNC page that breaks down the cost for only three semesters: 1st, fall, Spring. They say each is 9K+ (in-state). Then when I go to the cost breakdown page, it shows tuition variations for 3-5.9 hours, 6-8.9 hours, and 9+ hours. How does this work if with MSN you have to go full-time? Any insight is much appreciated.
  9. There was an email sent out on April 16th saying there would be sending out curriculum info soon and to not email and ask when you will get one. I would think you would have gotten something by now, either way. I am sorry. Lots of luck, maybe things just got overlooked with all the craziness right now
  10. I just tried that and got the same thing with the red envelope, maybe it just means you haven't been notified yet?
  11. Hi just curious, but does it seem like prices have gone up? Before they changed the website, the tuition was estimated at around 40k for a MSN. Now they have it divided up by just semester, and showing it to be around 10k each semester, not including insurance. So did it really go up 10k for the program???
  12. Francesca, I just checked Nursing Cas and the Portal link we were given in the email for our supplemental application. There is no change in either. Maybe check the portal link though and see if they have the correct email? Good luck everyone!
  13. For sure! You never know ?
  14. Hey everyone, maybe check you emails ?
  15. I applied to unc chapel hill for fall 2020, but for their MSN PNP (primary care). I also received that email about April 10th, but no email on acceptance yet,
  16. I think they will email and let us know if that’s the case. Another school I applied to has already done this and gave a firm date for motivations. I’m sure they will get enough emails/phone calls to drive them crazy otherwise ?
  17. I know Duke does for sure. I was also told unc chapel hill and UAB do as well. ??‍♀️
  18. are you in alabama? I am hoping if I am accepted I can go off of their list. I honestly have no idea on how to go about this and have been scouring allnurses for ideas.
  19. Thanks ? it sounds like that is at least a lead and maybe easier than cold-calling? I’m in NC
  20. hey everyone, still waiting to hear. hope you are all doing well out there. I was looking over info from UAB, and to be sure, they DO help or actually find clinical preceptors, right?
  21. Hi, I know this is a bit off topic, but did ODU find you clinical preceptors? What is the process? I applied for their PNP program, and am still waiting to hear back on acceptance. But I am still unclear on what they do for clinical preceptors. Thanks!
  22. Thanks for your reply. I have also applied to a few other schools and was really surprised by how quickly the decision was sent out. It gave me some pause. I would really prefer a school that finds your clinicals for you. I am really wondering how all of this will pan out anyway with the current situation. Good luck and CONGRATS!
  23. So on another note, there aren’t a lot of posts on this school. Have you heard good/bad things about it? How helpful they are with finding preceptors? Thanks!
