  1. Im sure they will. I have to accept my position by Monday so they may be doing it in rounds. Keep your head up and keep positive thoughts. I had NO idea I was going to be notified this early, I was so SHOCKED. so if its meant to be it will work out :)
  2. I received an email saying I was an accepted alternate yesterday evening! YAY so excited!
  3. the admissions counselor at usm nursing said we would have decision letters by end of december. i have read on previous posts however that they have found out online via mainestreet portal early december. so im not sure. but she said by the end of december so not too much longer.
  4. has anyone heard or does anyone know when they are going to start accepting alternates?
  5. I calculated how many credits the program is and how much out of state tuition per credit is at USM and it think it came out to be about 46,000 for tuition for the entire program. Plus books and misc. expenses. I have only applied to one other school in Denver Colorado at Regis. Its a private school so its going to cost me the same to go here or go out of state. im holding off on applying to more schools until I hear from maine. Im an alternate for the school in Denver so Im hoping to not have to apply to anymore schools, its a very daunting task.
  6. I also applied to USM for there summer ABSN. Im in CO. 3.43 gpa with lots of internship experience in hospitals along with CNA experience at assisted living facility. I called USM nursing admissions the other day and she said that they would be sending out letters in Dec. and that we would have decision letters by the end of December. Ive read on previous blogs that they found out early december via maineportal on the website. Where else have you applied?
  7. I am from Colorado. What about you?
  8. Stephy4-- thank you for doing that. The price is a little discouraging. I knew the nursing program itself was gonna be pricey (40,000+) but I wasnt planning on taking a 1200 dollar pre-req class especially when its online and only 8 weeks long. I am taking 3 other pre-reqs fully online at a community college and am paying 1400 and they are full semester long. Just seems a little ridiculous to me but I guess thats what happens when its a private school. Its hard to justify it when Im only an alternate too, but gotta do what I gotta do to get in I sppose.
  9. Well I live in Colorado, and I think that Regis is the only place that has it fully online. Im hoping its less than that since it is fully online and only 8 weeks long. I havent receieved any email from admissions in regards to this. Have you since you are accepted?
  10. does anyone know the cost of the healthcare ethics course? im trying to figure out finances for next semester and wanna have it budgeted in?
  11. keep your head up though, it all happens for a reason and will work out as planned :)
  12. I am also an alternate MedicineLover44. Hopefully, they will start accepting alternates after the 21st. Im dreading applying to more schools so hopefully they start soon!
  13. has anyone in CO received a letter yet?
  14. I hope so! I loved working as a CNA so if I dont get into a BSN program Im going to go back to that until I get in.
  15. I took my CNA in Fort Collins through Columbine Health Systems. it was 2 weeks long and was amazing. But I applied to University of Southern Maine. I was going to apply to UC Denver but was to keen about their program. I really like Regis' program. If i dont get into the two I applied to I will be applying to a school in memphis, TN and a couple in alabama. I know regis runs about 40,00 for the accelerate program, so if the traditional is two years- its probably going to be about double that. they have how many credits long each program is along with how much it costs per credit hour. it adds up pretty quickly.
