Can I ask how you came about finding that position?? I'm a new grad nurse with almost a year of experience on a med/surg floor. I'm hoping to relocate back up to Northern california and was looking into finding a new job at a clinic or doctor's office. Suggestions???

You and I are almost on the same boat, except for the fact that you have a job at a clinic already lol. I've been a nurse for almost a year, and I just actually spent the last couple of hours searching dermatology nursing and positions at skin care clinics. Have you started yet? Can you tell me how you found positions to apply for? All the dermatology places I've looked at don't have a link that lists any open positions. If you're into school, I just read somewhere that they are adding dermatology NP certificates so that could be an option if you end up liking your new job. Hopefully this new position will be less stressful for you. My experience on an acute care floor has been less than grand, and I do agree that some nights it is just too busy, not enough nurses or support, and sometimes you wish you could just run away, far far away. I think this will be a good chance for you, both for your mental and physical health. I can only hope to find a position in a dermatology clinic as well.

i'm in the same position as you. I remember when I was signing paperwork before starting on the floor, my contract required me to work for at least one year, otherwise the consequence is paying the hospital back 5grand. However, I know a few ppl who got out of paying so long as the reason why you are leaving has to deal with something that is out of your control...like family issues, husband relocating...or sometimes if it is really close to your contract due date. I'm trying to stick out my one year, but it's hard, I understand how you feel. But I'm not having much luck finding another job so I guess I just have to stay anyways.
