  1. Aliakey, Your post was soooo helpful! I too live in Texas and will be graduating from a local LVN program this March. I've been researching affordable schools that offer LVN-RN transition. I've just recently learned about Excelsior, and now I'm seriously considering this College for completing my ADN. If you don't mind, will you please explain how the clinical aspect of the program works. Also, are Online students invited to attend Commencement Ceremony at the time of graduation? I'm sure I'll have more questions as March approaches, but this will do for now! Lol. Thank you so much!!

  3. Hey there!! Aww ...don't be nervous hun! (For me), it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. I actually purchased the recommended study guide and it was VERY helpful! Did you purchase that study guide?? The best advice I can give is STUDY, STUDY, STUDY ....PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!!!!! Honestly, that's all I did and the Lord truly came through for me! The biggest issue I had was 'time management'. They allowed 60 minutes for each section (3 sections total - English, Math, Science), but it just seemed like 60 minutes was NOT enough time! Lol! But whatever you do, PLEASE do NOT leave any question unanswered. Again, just study hard, pray, and take a deep breath!! You'll get through it ...And WHEN you pass, please write back and share the exciting news!!!! =) God bless ...Be encouraged!!
  4. Yayy!! Congrats lady! I begin my LVN program in Spring 2012 at Galen College of Nursing in San Antonio, TX! So very excited! Yes! Please keep in contact via message board ...I'm sure we can all learn from each other! Blessings to you all! :)
  5. Wow!! That is some wonderful and very wise advice!! Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! Thankfully I do not have any kids, a husband, or boyfriend in my life (at the moment) ...I'm really just trying to concentrate on accomplishing my goal of becoming a Nurse! So I really have NO excuse to not succeed in Nursing School!! :) The thing you said that really stuck out the most was "...know what type of learner you are" ...That has been a constant battle since grade school! I have yet to learn exactly what type of learner I am! I know one thing, I am not very good with simply reading through a book or study guide. I don't feel that I really retain the information that I'm reading (I'm sure I do), but I become bored easily with just reading through a book. Maybe I should try flash cards (again), or re-writting or typing out each chapter so it'll stick! IDK #stilltryingtofigureitout Thanks again for all of your advice and words of encouragement! They will not fall on deaf ears (or eyes) :)
  6. Congratulations hun (on completing your first semester)! I agree with the first comment, do what you need to do to graduate. It's not about "hurting feelings" ...Although I understand where you're coming from because I'm the same way; but if you KNOW that you're being taken advantage of, then you need to go ahead and give them the 'business'! Lol Maybe you can offer some advice ...I am about to begin my first semester of Nursing school (LVN) this January, and I don't quite know what to expect. I mean, other than taking Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology previously, this is all new to me. Any tips to help me through my first semester??
  7. Update: I have received my LVN Entrance Exam test scores, and I am happy to say that I was blessed to have passed my exam by 16-points over the required (minimum) test score! GOD Is Good!
  8. Hello everyone! I am a new member to this site, and I am finding it very helpful in my efforts to (ultimately) becoming an R.N. (BSN). I'm hoping for some advice; I am scheduled to take the LVN Entrance Exam this afternoon at Galen College of Nursing in San Antonio, TX and I am a little nervous! I am not a huge fan of 'test-taking', but it must be done! Lol! Will someone pleeeease provide some type of advice and/or reassurance that the LVN Test is not as difficult as I'm thinking ...?? Thanks a bunch! Many blessings to you all! :redpinkhe Tweetie
