  2. That'd be wonderful!
  3. Congrats to everyone who got in! Do you guys know if we're supposed to be getting a packet in the mail? They said to put the confirmation letter in a certain envelope...but of course there's no envelope with the email...I know they did for prior years but I don't know if everything is the same this year.
  4. I did! I actually did my clinical experience at the Mayo Clinic so my clinical instructor worked there. But thank you! You're too sweet!
  5. I got in!! But...I'm not sure how. My GPA was a 3.79, I have no patient care experience, no volunteer experience besides the Ronald McDonald house which was before college even started, and am not in any leadership positions at school or any clubs. I'm guessing they put a lot of emphasis on the essays... The only thing I had going for me was a semi-decent GPA, two nursing scholarships, and good essays. I've worked since my freshman year of high school but they were all food related jobs. I really wonder what they look for! But I'm sorry you guys didn't make it! You guys are probably much more deserving than I was!
  6. My first essay is three pages...I hope that's okay. LOL But I did double spaced! And I didn't include my clinical experience in my resume...
  7. I'm also applying! I was really confused about essay length so I emailed them and this is what they said: Thank you for showing interest in the Summer III program here at Mayo Clinic. Essay questions will be mentioned in the "Summer III Nursing Externship" posting with no particular format/word count required. We do not interview for the program so applicants will need to see themselves in their essay responses. The transcript must be attached to your online application so we prefer that we don’t receive official copies from the school or mailed in. A copy of an unofficial transcript is acceptable. The transcript is reviewed to verify that one semester of clinicals have complete and that you are enrolled for second semester clinicals along with the GPA. The second semester of clinical rotation(s) must be complete prior to the start of the Summer III program in June. Actual grades will not be a factored in the selection process. Please feel free to scan in your transcript and attach the scan document to your online application or copy it into a Word document. You will also want to attach your resume to your online application, a cover letter is not required. As long as your BLS certificate says American Heart or Red Cross, you are welcome to answer that application question with a “Yes” as you will have it valid through August if renewed. However, you can wait until after our selection process has been done to pursue. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
  8. Interview complete! :)
  9. Eee~ I'm having enough trouble with six hours of work a week. ): But I'm not really good with time management so that might be a problem. But I know a lot of people who are only working if they're like ahead a few classes in the program so they have empty spaces in their schedule. But I would definitely start out part time and if that seems easy maybe go to full time?
  10. The Mayo Clinic in Minnesota has a Summer III program for nurses and I know they accept a lot of out of state people.
  11. It's possible and you can do it! :) Good luck! One of my instructors talked about someone who did that and came back and she definitely kicked ass!
  12. I'm only a sophomore in the program so I don't do clinical rotations yet. D: Booo..;____; I really don't know any nurses.. I'm hoping someone on here will answer by Friday..D:
  13. Hi! I'm a student from the University of Minnesota and I have to interview one nurse by this coming Friday! However, I really don't know any nurses and it would be quite awkward to just call a random hospital to ask to borrow a nurse for a few minutes. I hope you guys can help since it's such a great community (everyday lurker here)! It'll only take less than 10 minutes of your time. If the answers are too private, feel free to private message me or email me at [email protected]. Thanks so much! :) Questions: Name of professional being interviewed Current place of employment and title Date of the interview Education (degrees held, schools attended) Three major responsibilities on a daily basis Given current responsibilities, which other professionals are your most important collaborators?
