Krissy, Sign up immediately. It is hard to get a seat, and, you really don't need that much time to study. You need 50% to pass...that is a easy enough if you are prepared for the way the test is run. Most people are clueless and end up being on question 30 or 40 when time is up. That is an immediate fail because not even 50% of the questions have been answered. The time you are there is 60 min. There is some set up involved. Then you are timed 30 min. for Part 1 and 15 min for Part 2.

Krissy, That book is fine but the reading examples are NOTHING like the those on the test. The math and language is similar. You really get only 30 min for 90 questions. The spatials are easy enough but the only examples you get are the ones on the website- there aren't any in that book. What I did was go to Barnes and Noble, take all the different nursing entrance exam books and work on the vocab. The next thing I did was time myself on the reading making such that I worked toward answering 30-40 questions. None of the reading comprehension paragraphs are like the ones on the test so you have to read a bunch of passages to simulate the test. Remember, all you need is 50%. And yes, the test is the same for the retake. It's not that hard if you just stay calm and work systematically. When are you testing? Good luck!!!

Krissy_g, The test has no science. Part one is math, verbal and spatials (90 questions in 30 min). Part 2 is Reading Comp (40 questions in 15 min). The goal is to move fast rather than take your time. Spend 10 sec on question. If you know it, answer it. If you don't, circle it and go on to the next. The reading comp is best done as 'read the question and scan for the answer.' Don't waste time reading the paragraphs- they are long and dry. Schedule yourself for the test quickly. If you miss a seat this month, call each week, especially the week of the test and see if anyone has cancelled. That is how I got my seat. Good luck! PR Coach

Are they online course for you? I had to take a filler class because those two courses were transferred from my colllege education.

Just remember that we who speak English as our first language also struggle from communication skills and time management. Life is a work in progress.Since you have identified your problem (half the battle) the next step would be to actively work toward fixing it. I think you have already begun this process by calling out to your fellow nurse mates and letting us keep you standing. You are so close to completing your schooling. Quitting should not be an option.

If you have any degrees you will not get any grants but you depending upon your income you will be eligible for financial aid...they will meet with you and explain all of it to you. Hopefully you will get the loans you need.

I know you didn't ask, but if you stand a chance to get into Watts go for it. They have an incredible reputation and even more incredible number of students who pass the NCLEX first time out. They are so organized and provide you with great clinical experience that you would be hurting yourself not to keep going in this direction first, especially if you cant find a thing out about Piedmont. At the end of the day, there are good nurses and bad nurses...you want to be a well educated good nurse.

I think it would completely depend upon whether or not there are any more slots available for this cohort. I would definitely call her and ask. You have nothing to lose by doing that, and then you can plan for your the rest of your year if won't be going to school.

No luck with grants if you already have a degree Classes start May 29th. I can't wait to meet everyone at orientation!

My girlfriend just finished nursing school and she handed me her NCLEX RN study guide and said "they gave this to me the third semester and I wish I'd had it from the start..." I start my nursing program in January after 6 mos of human sciences (Watts School of Nursing). I would say yes.

Bubblyte, It probably is but. It depends upon whether or not you can get your stuff in quickly after you get your test back AND if the spots have all been filled. You can probably ask the recruiter this question. It takes 2 weeks to get your test results. If you send your completed application packet in the next day, one week later you will get another letter asking for your background check, then it could take another 3-4 weeks. The time suggests a December start. Good luck on the test. It is a lot of questions and you have to work fast. Prcoach

When you get there the counselor will show you what is available. I am not going for my BSN. I have two degrees already and think that I will stick with floor nursing rather than management. However, I chose a business course that seems to be common- has to do with managing others. My stuff isn't where I am or else I would be much more specific. We can also IM each other if you want more in depth information. Also we can talk more because this is a public forum.

I was able to get out of several too. I think what happens in this case is we end up taking one or two on-line class for the first 5 weeks (May 28th start date- but really May 29th because that is Memorial day) and then we take the core courses that are set by MOC and Watts. I got out of Eng, Gen psych, and history, maybe one other course. I did not get out of math so I have to take that. No one gets out of religion or sociology. We also have to take a developmental pysch course and A & P. You will probably have something similar, if that helps. We have a mandatory orientation on the 23rd of May it think. We can all meet then. Are you fresh out of college or a returning student?

Kmitch, First you will get a letter from MOC and they will tell you to get signed in on your Fafsa. Once you have that done someone will call you. You will meet with a lady who will create your curriculum (we are all in the same classes), then another lady who will discuss your grants/financial aide (but she was out sick yesterday so I will have that next week) and then a man who will take your $50. He goes over some paperwork explaining payment terms. So far I start one on-line course May 28th. Then we have classes that start the first week after July 4th for 5 weeks. Then we have Anatomy and Physiology with other courses that sort of overlap because that class is 10weeks. We are done right before Thanksgiving for the month of Dec and then we are in our 2 years of clinical.

You have to first send in $100 to show your intention to attend the school. Then there is a letter followed by a call. There is yet another $50 to Mt Olive...the call came about 4 days after the letter.

I am meeting with the MT. Olive team tomorrow to get squared away with courses and tuition. I have a friend who just graduated from WATTS, passed her nclex and is starting work at the end of this month. She told me that WATTS is really organized. I think you will get your call shortly! Excellent Kmitch! Hotsoup- I hope this is your week to get that letter! I got my first correspondence from Mt Olive this past Wednesday. Now I will wait for the call. It would be good to get an understanding of what kind of coursed we are taking and when, and how accelerated they are. Does any one recall if night classes are on T/TH? I somehow think i remember that being the case.

Hi! It took me 1 week after I sent in my money for the background check. But for some reason I think that's a little bit faster. May be that they don't have too many applicants right now. How long have you waited so far?
