  1. I received a lot of information from SIUE. They do not compare applicants against eachother. They do a rolling admissions for qualified applicants. Basically, they receive approximately 140 applications each year for their Accelerated BSN program, and there are only 40 spots available. The rolling admissions pretty much means the FIRST QUALIFIED 40 applicants get the spots, and then they start a waitlist. October 1st is when applications become available (3 weeks ago), and they accept applications until April 1, but by April 1st the program is full. They said to get the application packet in before Jan-Feb for a good shot. Prerequ's are listed on the website. GPA must be 3.0 or better. 2 Letters of reference sealed and signed on the back. Admissions to the Unversity (transcripts must be sent in). And prerequisite course descriptions and syllabi are also needed, along with a form for any outstanding prereques (the form is alson on the website with the application). Once all this is sent in, they stamp your packet complete. If you meet or exceed the criteria, and are one of the first 40, you'll be accepted. So the "completion" date is extremely important. Good luck!
  2. I haven't been on this site before, but I am planning on applying for SIUE's accelerated program. My family is from the Collinsville area, and I thought SIUE would be a good fit. Does anyone know if they take in account where the previous degree is from, and what degree has been obtained? Or do they only look at GPA? If I went to Clemson and graduated with a 3.2 with a Bachelor of Science degree and a minor in Biology, compared to someone else that went City Community College and graduated with a 3.7 with a bachelors in fashion design, will the CC student still have a better shot at acceptance, due to the higher GPA? They say they're on a rolling basis, but does that mean if I meet the required prereque's and have the necessary 3.0+ GPA, that I will be accepted? Or do they still only focus on highest GPA regarless of the degree? Just curious if anyone knows.
