thanks, but im calm. i accepted help from one nurse. she was helpful. just dont know what other well- meaning help you are referring to? everyone else was more interested in critiquing my english. two words....apparently when you join this forum you need to know exactly how it works right away. it was my very first post. thanks.....

thank you for responding! i think i figured it out.... it doesnt mention his o2 sats for this second part. this is almost a week out. his admitting sats were 88%, but this is now several days later. i put fear. i was thinking about pain too, but was having trouble prioritizing between the 2. the reason i didnt put the impaired gas exchange as a priority was because he is answering my questions and is verbally attacking his gf and mom and i figured he would have a very hard time doing that if he was horribly sob. he's also on 4L of O2 nasal cannula, so i figured his o2 needs are being met? the question specifically asks about what psychosocial concerns i have for him, and to identify an appropriate diagnosis, interventions and goal. i came up w fear r/t hospitalization AEB shortness with nurse and verbal abuse of mom and gf. i also came up w 3 interventions. havent done a goal yet, but ill think of one. i guess i dont know if that sounds right or if i should use acute pain instead. he's immoble also. he's 19. he now has a weak foot and cant pull his toes up. im sure that he is being helped w his adls. that's why i put fear..... i really appreciate your time and kindness!!!

Question RE posts by student nurses
well, you are a perfect example of it! if the shoe fits. and i did not use idiomatic language while asking a question about my homework. thanks though. like i said before, thanks for all your help. and laugh all you want. up until now, i havent had any negative experiences with any veteran nurse. so kudos to you being my first. oh- and your "posse" too. since you seem to be an english instructor as well, maybe you should look up the definition of a bully. maybe that old adage seems so overdone in your opinion because people say it to you so often.

Question RE posts by student nurses
wow....because i said "ya know"???? and if you are quoting me, please make sure you quote correctly. i never said i was younger than you. this is just unbelievable. and i dont even know what lolcats is. how very unfortunate that with all of your experience, you are unwilling to help out. i was actually told by a veteran nurse to come to this forum if i ever got stuck and needed help. what a mistake. how very sad. i havent experience an unintelligent nurse or nursing student yet. you wouldnt take me seriously because i said "ya know"??? i didnt realize this forum was so strict. im just trying to work through a case study and got stuck on something. im glad i will never be in clinicals and have you assigned as my nurse. how unwilling you are!!! also glad your patients dont see this! very disappointing that one nurse was willing to stick with me and help me work through this. why did you not address any of the other things i said? and before i start correcting someone's speech, maybe you should check some of your fellow veteran nurse's posts!!! lots of lols there, ya know????

Question RE posts by student nurses
if u read on, i did give my thoughts.....i am new to this forum, and i did have some things narrowed down, but needed some help working thru it. i was just trying to give as much info on the subject as i had! i wasnt looking for someone to give me answers! i was asking to be pointed in the right direction. i was confused on a few things. ya know, the first week we were in nursing school, our instructor told us that nurses eat their young....now i know what she was talking about. if you are so knowledgeable, why wouldnt you want to help spread that knowledge on to someone more "green" than yourself. i've worked very hard to get to this point as im sure you have as well, but i guess you dont remember being just a measly nursing student feeling overwhelmed and needing some guidance. thanks for assuming that you know me!

i think the foot is a bit easier.....i feel more confident with that than his anger. i was thinking that it is days out, and maybe he is detoxing????? these case studies are helping us with the critical thinking. i am in no way a critical thinker at this stage of the game. it is only our 5th clinical week and we are only 2 tests in. it's probably easier said than done considering you are already a nurse, but you need to be a little more compassionate and think back to a time when you didnt have those critical thinking skills yet. trust me, ive always been a straight A student, and being this stressed is very hard for me. it's unlike class ive ever taken. thanks for your help tho!

also- my prob with the cute confusion is that he is answering questions now....he doesnt seem like he's really confused. maybe i should just go with fear. that fits him better.

im 1st year, 1st semester. i dont want the answers told to me, and i have my diagnosis book in front of me, but im trying to figure out if acute confusion r/t alcohol abuse is a good diagnosis for this patient. or if it's because of a head injury......that's where im confused. also, with his foot, i know he can't really ambulate, so is prom going to even help him or is his foot too far gone??? maybe i worded my question wrong, but i certainly do not want any answers given to me, i just need some guidance please.

im having a problem..... i am doing a case study on a patient that has been in a mva. he is stable now, but has fractured ribs, r radial and ulnar fracture, and open r femur fracture. he wasnt wearing a helmet. isnt following commands and not oriented.. a chest xray shows large hemothorax on right. chest tube inserted and drains 750 ml of blood. he has an etoh of 125 mg/dl. and tested pos. for cannibinoid. after several days he is awake and answers questions but is very angry and abusive to mom and gf. he is also very short with you (the nurse). his r foot is weak and he is unable to pull toes up. it is flaccid. chest xray shows atelectasis. chest tube removed day before. remains on 4l o2 per nasal cannula. what are his psychosocial concerns regarding his behavior with nursing diagnosis goal, and 3 interventions???? also, what concerns about his r foot and what to do to improve it????? help!!!! is he detoxing??? what is the diagnosis for that????
