  2. Thanks. I like hearig some of the same names over again. Its a good sign to me. Florida isnt a nursing union state is it? also off the record what is the pay likein the area ? I looked at salary.com and got a range of 30-130,000 a year so whats 100,000 between friends? lol.
  3. Got my conformation and license today. now all i need is the call from the real estate office.
  4. After reading all those, my story seems a bit tame. I was placing an NG tube on a patient, his nose starts to bleed a little, I reassure him that unfortunant, it is to be expected( after 4 nurses and a resident in the ER tried, then they call in Wally) I start advancing the tube, he says Im gonna be sick, Alright sir, just a little further and... he vomits all over my shoes and scrubs, to find out it was my first introduction to fecal emesis. The other, I was checking the SCD's per patient request squatted down at bedside chatting with my lady( had a recent bowel resection with colostomy placement) I asked how was her gas, and if she felt like she needed to pass gas, She lifts her gown and says It hurts here, and I think I have passed gas, is this bad, When I looked up, She "burped" the colostomy bag right in my face. I got crop dusted by a fresh colostomy. It has been two weeks and I dont think i got that all out of my nose yet.
  5. Thank you for your post, I sent off all my stuff today. I was nervous about getting all of the information correct, I still remember the secretary from my LVN program and the fear she instilled in us about the application process. She is a tough cookie. I think I am good to go, sent stuff off today and will post when I hear back.
  6. My family is moving to Sebastian, Florida(from Texas) and I have decided to move with them, no since in being the only family member 1500miles away. I am looking at hospitals in the area from Vero Beach to Melbourne, and dont know where to begin. I would really like to have something lined up before I get over there. I am working on finalizing my paperwork to send off for my license. I am open for opinions from anyone regarding the hospitals in the area, I have worked at small hospitals and medium size hospitals. I am not a job hopper, been nursing since 2008, any help?
  7. Had they not considered Kytril. I know it is costly, but with some cancer patients with the nausea it seems to be the only thing that works. I have seen doses of Zofran at 8mg it is typically with the endstage cancer.
  8. Sorry to bring up a post from the dead, my family is relocating to florida, and I am going to go there. I saw the information and the flordianurselicenses..com place and kind of leary about giving that kind of information out to someone i have no idea about. What is the 2 hour medication error prevention course and where can I get access to it? Do they take electronic fingerprint cards. I know my state board is not the quickest with a response and have personally been on hold for 3 hours at one time. As far as background, I have a clean background and clear license not even a speeding ticket. Does anyone also know about the sebastian or vero beach area and what I might be looking at as far as pay? also is it a union?
