GA BON denied one nurse from New York, who was working there for 10 years. 4 year level (Bachelors) is can't to be as minimum entering level for licensuring.If they requere that , then they should close all 2 years nursing school all over the USA.That law is against the law. I was thinking about to call to Senators before your real actions, naw I will do it together with another nurse. I called to the Board, the lawer of the Board told me that I even shodn't apply for Endorsement with my 3 year education program and my New York license, anyway it will be denied.So I just stopped. I'm very agree that we all should call to the Senate. The law should be for the people and not against them.Specially in that economical crisis.

I spoke yesterday with the GA Board. They will not give me a license because my education is not a 4 year program, not because it is from Russia. They will change the law, but it will be in 2012 or never. They will not accept my education for licensing in GA with this law (2009) even I will have MSN from University of Phoenix. That was my hope. They need only basic nursing education. As soon as I get a job in places as Federal facilities ,Veteran Hospitals , or in Forest service in GA (that is only my choice with RN license in NY state) I will start BSN or MSN. exactly, easiest way in the most cases is not the best :) a lot of girls did it and work now as rns- in ga . but time is changes. about the toefl :) i did not try it at all. i studied a lot english in gwinnet tech. college and in southern university. you see, if i took the toefl, the law of ga changed in 2009. there is no way for anyone to get ready for 2 years and for toefl and for nclex. maybe i could do it if someone a kind person could show me all right way from the moment i arrive to usa. but “nobody’ll put on your way hey” (a russian proverb) at the time i knew the right information, it was already late. thanks a lot for your answer. you are a straightforward person, honest and i like that, because i'm myself like the truth and i tell what i think about a situation openly ( my father's blood) ha ha, i thought it is “russian thing” anyway i believe if i was a good nurse in the past i will be a good nurse in usa. there are another states , there are compact states. and who knows… good luck to you! and thanks a lot!

i took a ny board because, they do not require toefl, which would take a lot of my time to get it.toefl could be used for 2 years and i would spend a lot time for getting toefl , then a lot time for getting nclex. at least right now i got already (today) my ny license, first real us license. i'm really happy about it. i did that because someone told me their way to get ga lic. well, there is the second problem: in 2009 ga get new law. according that law many us graduates as the same as international can't be licensed in ga, because of their "not regional education". one russian nurse, who was rn in ny for 10 years also did not get her license in ga (they moved to ga from ny) in reason that they dislike her education. the board answers them that they need to wait for a new law. otherwise: you can't work in ga as rn. anyway i will try. i will apply to ga, and we will see what happens. if someone could make reentry program i could do it too. but as i said now it is the second problem. first- i need that my education was accepted by the board, if not, there will be no need any 500 hours from ny or reentry program. phoenix can accept my bachelor in business that i can jump to msn. but i don’t trust this type of universities, especially when i know that ga nursing board is so sensitive to accreditation. so i need first to be sure that the university is accredited, just right for ga.ga is a very special state about unique law. i would prefer to start studying in good respectful for ga university, but for that i need have ga rn license. so, that is as a blocked circle :)

Thanks for your advice.Why do you think it is better?Do you know that reentry program could be very difficult or something else? My point is that to find a job in New York State is very difficult. 1) I heard people want from RNs Bachelor(BSN). I have Bachelor in Business Administration, Russian education. 2)I do not have RN or other expirience in US.(One home setting aggency already wrote me "No" to my resume), even home setting... 3)Also that way is very expensive, I should to rent an appartment at least for 6 months. 4) I don't know how to explain to the people that I need from them only 500 hours of practice. 6) I have my family in Atlanta 3 boys(High school, University students) and husband.Even kids are old, I will be far away for many months. And honestly, I'm very afraid of unknown cities. Could be very dangereous. If you have some suggestions, please write me.I will consider any advice as big help. Larisa.

Thanks Juli, I found the answer on my question. There is reentry program. 410-7-.01 Licensure by Endorsement for Registered Nurses Licensed in Another NCLEX-RN (SBTPE) Jurisdiction. Amended. (3) The applicant must be able to document one of the following within the four (4) years immediately preceding the date of current application: (a) three (3) months or 500 hours of licensed practice as a registered nurse; (b) graduation from a nursing education program within the four (4) years immediately preceding the date of current application; or © completion of a Board-approved reentry/refresher program within the four (4) years immediately preceding the date of current application.

hi juli, thank you very much for the answer and the link. i already saw it before, but i have been concentrated on reading the licensing by endorsement document, and there is no information about international graduates. so thanks a lot for this link, i looked at it with fresh view. is this information from this link also related people like me( i mean i must be licensed by endorsement , not by examination because i have been licensed in new york state first, i must get my lic. on the end of this week) my problem that i wasn't working in us before. my all nursing work was in russia and it was more than 4 years. i came in us 4 years and 6 months ago. so i can't show my practice from russia within 4 years immediately preceding the date of the application. another thing: i called to the ga nursing board. the representative told that i need to show them my 500 hours of rn work from new york state because i have a license from this state (not from russia). i would like to hear if you know another way to be licensed in ga, how to avoid those requirement (500 hours rn experience in new york state). may be there is another way? maybe there is possible to get a reentry program instead of rn experience? thank you for your help. larisa.

Hi James, Thank you for your answer. yes, I understand that paragraphes A-D are not related to me, but what is about F. They say "or" "or". So...if my education is not not accredited in accordance with subparagraph © - (A nonprofit postsecondary institution of higher education that is accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education but according (F) paragraph, they could to consider any education wich is 4 years. So if my Russian education is 4 years program ... will GA Board of Nursing consider my education for licensing. That was my question. I graduated from Ufa Medical College, Russia, which is 3 year nursing program. 16 years' experience as an Emergency/Anesthetist Registered Nurse in Russia (1990-1996) (All Russian Medical schools, colleges and Universities, are free and governmental (nonprofit and has the same medical program proved by Moscow all over Russia)). Education approved and validated by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) and has been evaluated as similar to an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) in US. My Russian education doesn't have problems for New York State Nursing Board. I know that TO BE INDORSED to the GA Board I need to show 500 hours or 3 months of work from New York State ,and I thought it is ONLY MY OBSTACLE( I DO NOT HAVE ANY NURSING EXPIRIENCE IN US and secondly, I should travel from Atlanta to NC and be far away from my family).Yes , it will be challenging for me to get a job , but I have hope.I woul like to hear from someone any suggestions about how to get any job in NC in any RN position. By searching this site and how to get GA RN license I read these very bad news from all of you. Please somebody, who can understand this new GA law, can explain me paragraph (E).I think that none of those (A, B, C, D) could be related to the nurses who was educated in another countries.
