  1. Gordon obviously gives preferential treatment to Gordon students because they have soooo many applicants (I was told this by my nursing advisor). You must complete 12 credit hours @ Gordon to be considered a gordon student. For example, a "gordon student" may have lower stats than a transfer student but is accepted over the transfer. I have been very pleased so far... Once I had completed 12 hours there I was accepted into the program. Hope this helps! Good luck
  2. I start the nursing program at Gordon State in Fall/2013. It is VERY competitive, especially for transfers. I was finally accepted on the third try. I had a 3.34 GPA, 67 on the TEAS V and a 72 on the crititical thinking test. Good luck, Gordon is a fantastic school and have been very pleased thus far!
  3. Congrats to everyone that got in!!! For the ones that did not get in or were waitlisted, dont give up! I was accepted on my third try.
  4. Recieved my ACCEPTANCE letter today!!! I guess the third time was the charm!
  5. I was told decision letters would be mailed out by April 30th... Past experience, they wait until the LAST minute to mail them out! I will be shocked if they come before the 30th. Also, for the last 2 semesters acceptance letters come in an envelope with a see through window, denial letters have your name typed on the envelope. Dont know if it will be different this time??? The waiting is killing me!!!!
  6. Hello all... This is my 3rd time applying. I am hoping this one will be the charm. I made a 67 on the TEAS and a 70 on the critical thinking test and my GPA is 3.33 and I am also being counted as a Gordon student not a transfer. It is very competitive! I wish you all luck. Did anyone else attend the class "How to make the most of nursing school" at Gordon???
  7. Congratulations to all that got in!!! Second time around applying and still did not get in, I am getting extremely frustrated...
  8. @ cassandra13 when is your test scheduled???
  9. shabowen628... Welcome to the thread! I applied last semester and obviosly didn't get in. The critial thinking test is 40 questions and you have 40 minutes to complete. The material is nothing academically related, the questions are all over the board... What were your stats ??? TEAS score, GPA, core completed etc...???
  10. Got my critical thinking test date... Feb. 17th @ 1:00pm
  11. Yes once you are accepted you have to "accept" your spot (RSVP) VERY IMPORTANT... If you don't, you are bumped off the list which will free up a spot for the people who got wait listed...
  12. MedicalMinded, You have got alot going for you... You are a student @ Gordon (they get put before the transfers) and you are a CNA already (you are awarded extra points for that) Hopefully we will all get in!!!
  13. No I did not retake classes... My GPA was low because of 2 F's from 14 years ago... I just continued to take my core classes and that eventually brought it up. I totally bombed the critical thinking test last time. I made a 62, I ran out of time and just had to mark answers... Time is your worst enemy on that test, you have 40 questions and 40 minutes. BTW if you retake classes, the nursing dept does NOT take the higher of the two grades they take an average. For example if you made a D and then a B in A&P, the will count that as a C. Also I was not counted as a Gordon student last semester, I think that played a part in the decision. This is my second sememster at Gordon.
  14. You will get a letter stating the day and time of your critical thinking test... You will have to ask the nursing dept how many groups they have scheduled. They don't give this information in the letter. I applied last semester but obviously didn't get in! I hope I have a better chance this time!!! My GPA went from 2.5 to 3.5 and I will be done with my core after spring sememster!
  15. Has everyone finished their core classes????
  16. The critical thinking test is administered by ATI; however, it is a paper/pencil test. It usually takes 3-5 business days to get the results. It also depends on how many groups they scheduled for the test. If you are in the first group, you have to wait until all the groups have taken the test. Gordon sends off the test for grading once everyone has taken the it... It is agonizing, get ready for the wait! The 8 weeks starts once everyone has taken the critical thinking test!
  17. Any of you ladies that have taken the TEAS test, would you mind telling me what the national average is???
  18. They usually schedule those with in a week or two after the application deadline. They mail a letter stating the time and place for you to take it!
  19. MedicalMinded, I made a 72 the first time... Hope I do better this time!!! Good Luck
  20. Hello ladies! I am turning in my application next week. My GPA is 3.5 and I am retaking the TEAS on Wednesday in hopes of a higher score. I believe they send out letters requarding the critical thinking test once they have reviewed all the applications and picked out the ones who are eligible. Good luck to all!!!
  21. Congrats ladies on your acceptances!!! I did not get in this semester, now I can finish my last two core classes and retake the TEAS! Good luck and GOD bless!!!
  22. Here's hoping...
  23. Congrats... Clayton State is tuff to get into! You should be very proud!!! What was your GPA, TEAS score etc...
  24. Congrats to your sister... What program was she accepted to? ADN, LPN-RN, or RN-BSN??? And yes they are evaluating admissions on a points system (can't remember who asked). I met with my advisor today and she pretty much told me I wasn't getting in because I haven't completed all of my core. That is not official though, she said anything was possible and not to be discouraged. She advised me to apply again for Fall/2012 semester. She also said letters would be mailed out either tomorrow or next week.
  25. thanks everyone!!!
