  1. hello, i wanted to let you know that there are nurses in seattle who love their careers. i graduated last year from seattle u and was offered a position at group health in their rn residency program six months later. i love my job on the oncology unit. most people give me that look of (oh oncology nursing, how sad), which i don’t understand why. many cancers are not death sentences anymore. i may just be lucky, but i’m having a blast working with the other nurses and the physicians. i have not gone home and cried myself to sleep. i feel so supported and have never felt abandoned by my preceptors. you should go back into nursing! i love being a nurse; it is so rewarding and is a respected profession. i had one man approach me on the bus last month to thank me for saving lives. the little things make me so proud to be an rn.
  2. Hello Tracy, I am not sure if my reply PM was sent to you, let me know if you didn't receive it. Lauren
  3. Hello Tracy, I graduated this past June and was offered a position this week for a RN residency! I remember being where you are and I too was a nervous wreck. How many programs are you applying to? I feel the essays are extremely important in the application process. You have to stand out from the rest of them. I wrote about my own weakness and showed how I am determined and dedicated to becoming a nurse even with them. I explained why it took me so long to get my AA (3 years) and why I repeated so many classes. What is the essay questions now, I wonder if they are the same when I applied? I think they asked why nursing/SU and something about diversity. Seattle U's Nursing College has been really good to me especially the professors and clinical instructors. I loved being on "Pill Hill", most of my clinical sites were close to campus. I could go on and on why SU is the best in my eyes. Nursing school definitely beats you up, there will be tears, however having the support of so many amazing nurses was well worth it. I hope this eases your mind a little and if you have any questions let me know.
  4. Hello, I am a graduate from Seattle U's nursing program. Which is an amazing nursing school, I loved everything about my experience as a SU nursing student. I transferred from a local community college with a GPA of 3.4 with several classes repeated (Chemistry and Math). I received my associate of arts and worked as a CNA for about six mouths before I applied to SU. I used UW nursing requirements as a baseline because they asked for more classes as prerequisites then an other university. Both of you should apply and apply to all the nursing programs around the area. Getting my foot in the door was the hardest part. Hope this helps and good luck to both of you.
  5. I took my NCLEX-RN today at 0800 in Seattle and also received the same "pop up". Later in the evening I checked the WA-BON, which read "ACTIVE". I cannot believe how quickly I found out. I am so happy to say I am a RN, BSN. Congratulations to everyone for passing their boards!
