  1. Actually I agree.. And the professor I am complaining about actually used the term "nurses eat their young." I am sucking it up and I am completing the program (God willing) I came here to vent and I've somehow offended many others.
  2. The magic word is teach. There is no teaching thus far. If he/she was teaching I wouldn't be complaining.
  3. I wasn't speaking about all educators only the ones I've had the misfortune of being lectured by. Loosen up geesh
  4. I keep telling myself.. If they were competent nurses they wouldn't be "teaching." They're just miserable old hags. UHG
  5. You're right.. I'll just say dream tell her off í ½í¸‚
  6. Because they dislike novice, student nurses. People like that need to crawl back into the cave they came out of. Talk to your clinical instructor.. The hospitals have contracts with your school so they MUST comply. Hang in there
  7. Hi all ! Im a new nursing student and a month in I'm finally getting the hang of things and beginning to feel a little more comfortable. There is an issue however.. I loathe the director of my nursing program. She's also a classroom instructor and I believe an occasional clinical instructor. Every conversation I've had with her resulted in her looking me up and down and giving me a dirty look. She makes me feel so incompetent. I've worked in healthcare for 10 years so I know all too well how nurses can be and just love to eat their young.. But this woman is different she is just nasty! Something as simple as asking where a bathroom is constitutes a roll of the eyes from her. Im quiet, poised, and a good student eager to learn. I've kept my mouth shut so far but I'm scared I won't won't be able to for the next few semesters. Did you guys have this experience? If so how did you handle it? Any advice? Another thing I've been dying to complain about is her over use of the word behoove. "It may behoove you to yada yada" sorry just ranting... :)
  8. This is just the beginning. Not trying to scare you but it gets worse once you're in nursing school. Information overload. It takes a lot of time and dedication but I'm told in the end it's worth it. You'll learn as you go.. I've been out of school for 10 years and just completed my first month of nursing school. You get into a routine and "Learn how to study." You'll be fine. Good luck
  9. Hi all! So, I finished my first week of an LPN program that lasts 11 months. I had originally wanted to do an ADN but they are very particular with accepting so I thought that this would be good for now. Let me tell you I am so overwhelmed. Does it EVER get easier? When did some of you get into a routine and find it doable and feel more confidence ?
  10. I started my program last week and each day I have come home miserable and on edge. It's been very difficult for me to adjust. He's been very supportive and has held his tongue on more occasions than I could count. Thankfully he understands or at leasts tries to. I've been trying to hold back on taking the frustrations out on him. I don't have too much of a rapport with other class mates as its only been a week.. But hopefully I'll have a soundboard or two once I get to know others better.
  11. Not much of a salary difference ... few dollars.
  12. Everywhere is different. Just remember the enviroment is a relfection of UPPER MANAGEMENT. Just hang in there during your clinicals. Be happy you wont have to work there. As a CNA you will experience poop,pee,diapers,emisis,poop..poop...poop....poop
  13. You can only take the cna test without attending a cna training class in NJ after completing Nursing 1 or Nursing fundamentals.
