  1. hnguyen509, please don't lose hope. Did you apply to other schools? I know how discouraged you feel about GCC; it was my first choice school. I'm a much older student and I don't feel like I have years to wait, but God has the ultimate plan for us. Once you get in you'll be so grateful that it will give you the motivation to work really hard and to excell. Good luck.
  2. I heard that letters from GCC would be sent out on Nov. 22nd, but I haven't received anything. SoCalCrystal got an acceptance letter on Nov. 23rd. Do you think that the acceptance letters went out first? It's so hard to wait, but I'm feeling discouraged that I didn't get a letter yet.
  3. socalcrystal, It's great you are a CNA. It will be easy for you to get a job as an RN. I will see you at the orientation on Monday, Dec. 9th.
  4. I was accepted into the LAVC RN program for spring 2012. Still waiting to hear back from my first choice school. Did you need to sign a commitment when you picked up your packet?
  5. Mayelvn, Thanks for clarifying the difference between wait-list and alternate list. We were told at the orientation that there were over 300 applicants; 50 were chosen and 30 were asked to be on the alternate list. I counted 70 people at the meeting. I still haven't given up hope. Shawsta, I think your right about having priority to get into the program if you have experience. I have a 4.0 in my sciences with no repeats and a decent GPA, but no experience. I just couldn't find the time to volunteer with a husband, four sons and those crazy science classes.
  6. To Mayelvn:CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Good luck to you. Someone on the alternate list for the bridge program is going to be very happy about the open seat.
  7. UCLA extension courses are for those who need classes, but are not enrolled as a student at UCLA. Some people who can't get into a science class at their own school can pay to take one of the extension courses at UCLA. Just call the schools that your applying to and verify that they'll accept the units.
  8. angel2010, I heard that if you have a hard time getting into a chemistry class you can pay to take it through UCLA extension. Most nursing programs accept it. The only problem is the cost. I think it's about $500....just an option to keep you moving forward.
  9. MayeLVN, You are so encouraging. Thank you so much for your kind words. Congratulations on your acceptance.....wish all nurses were as kind and thoughtful as you:redbeathe. I will not lose hope.
  10. Angel2010, so sorry sweetie that you didn't get in. Don't give up. I believe you said that this was the only school you applied to. Apply to all the schools that you can so you have a better chance. I applied to 6 schools. There are schools that take applications in the Spring for the Fall semester. Best of luck. You'll get in soon.
  11. CONGRATULATIONS!!! to those who got in. Just Got an email that I'm an alternate. I'm not sure what kind of chance the alternates have, but just thrilled to still have some hope.
  12. Hi girls, Great to have other people as obsessive about checking the emails as I am. After reading the really great scores some of you got on the TEAS test, it doesn't look so good for me. You guys are sooooo smart. God is in control......we'll all get into the place we should be. You
  13. COC requires the TEAS V version. Once you've met their criteria, they do have a lottery system. They will take some students on merit though. If you have really good stats, they can choose you prior to the lottery.
  14. I'm new to this sight. Here's my info: I applied to COC, LA Valley College, Pasadena City College, Glendale Community College, and LA County Allied Health. I took the Teas V test on Sept. 30th. I left the test feeling like I had failed it, but I passed with a 72.7%. I have a 4.0 GPA in the sciences with not repeats and no withdrawals. My overall GPA is only 3.1. When are acceptance/rejection letters going out for COC?
  15. Hi, I applied to the Spring 2012 semester......just took the TEAS V on September 30th. I was so affraid I would fail the TEAS because I was taking over 4 hours to finish the practice tests online at home. I rushed through as fast as I could and got a 72.7%. I have a 4.0 in the sciences with no repeats or withdrawals. My overall GPA is only 3.1 (I'm much older now and wish I would have worked harder in school back in the day). Good Luck to You. Where else did you apply?
