  1. Thank you for the insight! The market where I currently am is small and has been getting progressively worse so I'm excited by how many more opportunities are in MN.
  2. Hello! I am currently about to begin my senior year of an ADN program in Alabama and am hoping to relocate to MN after graduation, ideally the Twin Cities and up to an hour away in surrounding areas. I was wondering what other people's experiences have been with applying to jobs before graduation/NCLEX as it seems to vary somewhat across the country. I'd really like to have a job upon graduation and not have to get my license and work here in Alabama before being able to move, though I realize that may not happen no matter what. I'm planning on applying to hospitals as well as home health and LTC since I'm pretty open to all possibilities when it comes to my first job. Any information would be appreciated!
  3. I prefer flash cards due to their portability and ease of organizing. I also find they're better for focusing on one concept at a time or returning to something specific I want to review. This might be a good idea when you just need to memorize something quickly, though. To each their own :)
  4. It's at this link: CPR Classes and BLS Classes in Sumiton, AL Click on BLS Healthcare Provider Initial and it'll give you the date options and you can sign up there. Next one at Sumiton is July 25...when I took it the class was in the Health Sciences building.
  5. I'm not 100% sure about CPR, but I would go ahead and do it now because if you take the EMS 100 you'll be paying more since it's a 1-credit class ($100+). They're doing a non-credit session on July 24th at Sumiton and it's $45 (CPR Classes and BLS Classes in Sumiton, AL). It only took 3 hours when I did it last year. It has to be the BLS for Healthcare Providers Initial (not just regular CPR). I know we have to have it before clinicals so you may run into trouble if the class hasn't taken place before then. I would call the program's administrative assistant at the Jasper campus to find out for sure (extension 5877). We can buy the uniforms from former students... I haven't been able to find anyone selling them in my size on the book sale site, though
  6. You were right -- I GOT IN!! I'm going to be at Sumiton as well so I guess I'll be seeing you soon!!
  7. Congratulations!! Where are you located? I'm in Birmingham and am worried I may be waiting until tomorrow. Sumiton was my #1 so fingers crossed!
  8. PSA: Letters for all campuses were mailed yesterday from Jasper
  9. No letter for me today. Fingers crossed for tomorrow or Wednesday.
  10. Nope! I got my financial aid refund which was postmarked yesterday so I'm guessing Tuesday or Wednesday at this point.
  11. I was hoping they might mail them this week because they've done that in years past (mailed them the day after decisions), but I guess we'll see.
  12. Letters will likely arrive any time between now and next week -- last I heard they were supposed to make decisions yesterday and technically letters could have gone out today. So at this point...who knows lol.
  13. I'm currently taking A&P II right now, but my others are done and all good :) I found out a few days ago that the committee is meeting on the 10th so you *might* hear by the 13th or early the next week. Just depends on how soon they mail out the letters after making the decisions. Hopefully it won't be too long now! Best of luck!!
  14. I applied to Sumiton, but from what I understand they all get routed to Jasper -- the admission committee meets once and makes decisions for all campuses. Decisions will be mailed the 2nd week of June. I don't know anything about a points system -- all I've heard is that as long as your GPA/ACT are good then you should be okay. Also helps if you have done some of the pre-reqs.
  15. I applied with Sumiton as #1 and Jasper #2. The other 2 campuses are way too far from me (I'm in Birmingham). Only a few more weeks before decisions are mailed I hope!
