  1. Congratulations, MrNurse2011! That is such wonderful news! I'm so glad we have this website to support each other!
  2. Did you also apply to the ICU at Ronald Reagan? Or did you apply to the CCU at Santa Monica?
  3. Is anyone interviewing for Adult ICU tomorrow?
  4. That's awesome! What school do you go to?
  5. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! I know for a fact that UCLA takes a few ADN's every cohort. I know of 3 from the Summer cohort and 2 from the one before that. I know it's hard and I think we just have to do everything possible to make ourselves stand out. Good luck, girl. Where did you apply?
  6. I'm an ADN. My interview is scheduled fro November 9th. Anyone else out there an ADN?
  7. Hey Everyone, I just got a call from UCLA this morning to schedule an interview! I applied for ICU/CCU. They really are still making calls so don't give up hope!
  8. I'm still in school but have been working in the field of substance abuse detox for the past 5 years. In terms of hospital experience, I have none. I do however volunteer in the community and am working on starting my own nonprofit. Hope that helps! Where did you go to school? I'm pretty sure UCLA will consider ADN's who have rotated through their hospital. They hired 2 ADN students from my school last semester.
  9. That is great news to hear. Where did you go to school?
  10. Cedars is primarily hiring BSN only. Gook luck!
  11. hi eric, here is the website: http://www.hprovider.com the website descriptions states: "[color=#002000][color=#006000][color=#0066ff][color=#ff9933]california school of health sciences (cshs) is proud to offer a certificate of completion in adult critical care nursing. the certificate shows that the student has undertaken a comprehensive range of classes related to care of the adult critical care patient. graduates will develop the specialized skills and knowledge to become critical care nurses, and be prepared to recognize and support the unique characteristics of the critical care patient population. requirements for the certificate of completion include nine classes in the adult critical care series listed in the course outline." i called them and they said that at then end, you get a certificate of completion. the course includes 9 eight hour classes that include everything from ecg interpretation to ventilator weaning. do you think this is something good for a new grad to take?
  12. I am a nursing student at an ADN nursing program. Because of hiring freezes, I'm trying to do everything I can to stand out before I start applying to jobs. So far, I have completed the following certifications: - ACLS - PALS - ECG - 12-Lead/STEMI I found a critical care certification (not CCRN) that I can do but it is $600. Has anyone ever hears of these courses? I have only found one place that offers this particular course. Has anyone recommend any additional certifications? Thanks!
