  1. Hi Everyone - I am working on finishing up phase 2 of ISU LPN to BSN program to meet the June deadline for Fall admission. So far, I like it a lot. I am a bit nervous with how clinicals are going to factor into everything (studying, working full time, ect.) Is anyone else on this thread looking to apply to ISU for Fall 2013? Or is anyone else here in VA applying for the Fall 2013? If so feel free to message me or friend add me. Thanks! :
  2. Hello! I am also currently in Va (in NoVa area) and working on phase 2. I have completed 2 of the 4 nursing challenge exams and I also still need to take my Teas. I use TCN, and so far, I really like TCN. It is a bit pricey, but the study guides for me were very helpful. Some people don't use TCN and do just fine without TCN's study guides. It is too each is too own. My goal is to make the June 1 deadline date for phase 3. If you want to network feel free to add/message me. I don't use this forum often however, I can be reached by email at [email protected]
  3. Thanks for the info. I will def look into it.
  4. Nah, I used the ATI book and the online ATI practice exams. I thought they where very helpful. I also used an egg timer when I did the practice exams from the book, that helped with time time part.
  5. Hey, I just applied for spring of 2013. I am a bit nervous, but staying positive. Feel free to email me. Good luck with the admission process.
  6. Hey, I am in NoVa. I just applied to ISU's LPN-BSN program and a bit nervous as well as excited! I just finished my online application yesterday and am in the waiting process to see if I have be accepted to the University (Phase 1). I'm a bit concerned because I still have not taken the CLEP my algebra course, yet ISU told me to go ahead and apply?? Anyone have any thing like this happen to them? Also, just did my TEAs for a different program I applied too. I got the following Individual 63.3 Reading 61 Math 76 Science 54 English 66 Soooo annoyed the reading and the individual did not meet the benchmark for ISU too. (70 in reading and 65 in individual) Will I have to retake just the reading or all four parts? Ugh! Any feedback is welcomed! Thanks :) Good luck to you all! :)
  7. Sorry for the multiply posts. I am new to this website and still learning how to reply with the technology. I feel old!
  8. I am in Virginia. I went to George Mason University dismissed in 2004. Then Marymount's second degree program in 2009. I also have an undergrad degree in psychology I finished at GMU after my first dismissal. I finished my B.S. in psychology in 2008. I did my LPN program in 2011 after my second dismissal and now have my LPN license. My end goal is to finish my BSN and then a MSN. I've been dealing with the whole 'higher learning' process for so long. A lot of people along the journey discouraged me, and told me to do something else. Nope, not happening. I have also met people along my journey who thought I would never sit in for NCLEXs. Well, I did and passed. The practice of nursing has always been a heartfelt ambition. I just can't emphasize this enough to students, if it's in your heart and your dreams you don't give up. Yes, you got to face your demons and figure out what when wrong or what would be different, but it can be done. I have applied to 5 programs. Both tracks. Marymount included. I will start in spring. I don't stress about the admission process anymore. I have been through worst. I still have many roads ahead of me. However, I believe in myself and work hard. And if anyone doubts me along the way, then I don't have time for them. I know that the success will happen when it's meant too.
  9. I can laugh about this now, but I have been kicked out of two BSN programs at 2 different universities. There where different circumstances both times. I was heart broken each time, but I still have my dreams and one day will reach them. After the second BSN didn't work out, I went to an LPN program and even failed my NCLEX-PN the first time! Big deal! The next time I took it I was dealing with some personal/family health problems, as my husband was in ICU. However the second time passed NCLEX-PN and did just fine. That whole experience really put everything in perspective too! The pass rate is so high in the schools because, at least in Virginia, the school has to have a high enough pass rate each year for NCLEXs or the school gets put on probation. There is a lot of politics between the schools of nursing and the state. I work as a Mental Health nurse now and getting ready to start my RN, oh boy! Here we go again! My whole point in this is, don't give up. A 'dismissal' or 'failure' is frustrating, and even can hurt your self esteem, but don't let it. Stay positive. You always have options and if you hang in there, you'll get it. Good luck!
