DCCCD Community Colleges question
"Most nursing students want to take the BIOL 2401 (A&P1) because it transfers to universities BUT UTA does accept SCIT 1407 as well :) I don't think any other university here in Dallas accepts it though." ...Baylor's nursing program accepts SCIT 1407 and 1408 as well.

El Centro ADN 2012
Brenda A, Will the Northlake program meet with El Centro for orientation? Even though Northlake is linked to El Centro I would think you guys would meet at your campus -so that the slight differences wouldn't get confusing. Maybe you should call. When is Northlake's orientation?

El Centro ADN 2012
Thank you for your insight willbeanurse1day. With this additional information I have added another avenue to my path to success list: top rated You Tube Lectures on Nursing Fundamentals and such. The College of Southern Maryland and other great programs have posted countless lectures on countless nursing subjects. Is there anything specifically that we should avoid? Is there a positive that we should choose or look forward to? Great nurses that I've had an opportunity to speak with have told me they lived, slept, drank, etc, nursing related subjects until after NCLEX -and even the first year or two of work. That's my game plan too. You can only get out of it what you put into it right

El Centro ADN 2012
Hello delgadokleo, Usually a lot of people apply to more than one program to increase their chances. For instance, many apply to both El Centro and Brookhaven. Brookhaven's letters haven't been sent yet. Most likely some will be accepted to more than one program which may hopefully open a slot for you. Last semester someone mentioned being called the week before classes began. It's all good. Best of luck.

el centro's nclex pass rates for the past five years were: 2010 - 86.64% 2009 - 94.04% 2008 - 97.87% 2007 - 97.84% 2006 - 98.07% the point scale did slide just over 10%. brookhaven's did too -and everyone raves about how wonderful brookhaven is. thank you for the advice though. my first choice was baylor's program but i will not pay $80,000.00 for four semesters of comfort -for a job that will only pay 40ish to begin. i've heard el centro will be tough. i know working as an rn will be tough as well. my game plan is to engulf myself in nursing texts, nclex studies, *find my own mentor, and consider any petty crap along the way as lessons learned in preparation for my future career. as long as everyone/thing is ethical i will simply be thankful for the opportunity. your concern is greatly appreciated. thanks again for the advice. but, as for me, i will be one tough cookie, rn when i complete the program.

"Question for those of you that have received acceptance letters --- did you all have a 4.0 gpa? I know in the past I was told you needed a 4.0 to be guaranteed a spot, but now with the point system that isn't the case. Just wondering???" JC046, 3.88 here. I've heard a 4.0 GPA is a more critical element for Brookhaven's app process. The point system is different there. -and because of fewer seats maybe.

Best Nursing Programs In Dallas Area?
"I am trying to get my ADN... ..., i was definitely looking into brookhaven because a review I read for El Centro was pretty bad.. but I can't believe their aid dept is that bad, I bet they get an abundance of complaints.." veronicarenae, According to the BON, El Centro has a 95% average pass rate over the past five years, which is actually considered very good. (very similar to ACC) It's located in the Paramount building downtown, which is also very nice. Overall, I find it pretty awesome. Additionally, El Centro is fairly close to Parkland Hospital which gives one insight on what to expect there. The only negative I can think of is that parking costs $5 each day. ...which they offset by giving dart rail passes. TWU is awesome as well. Baylor's nursing program is great, located at the other end of downtown, and costs $73,000.00 more. (though rolling compound interest on a student loan is pretty bad, that is, if you're looking at student loans) best of luck

Classes begin mid January, less 9 months, so the physical date cut off would/should be mid April.

Awesome. :) Countdown: 45-47 days until letters are mailed! I'm going to try to stay productively busy and not think about it much until then...
