  1. They let me in early. Test went until 165 questions with THIRTY SATA (omg it sucked lol). Got out to my car and tried the PVT and got the good pop up!!! Still in disbelief but I think I passed if the PVT really works like everyone says it does! I'm about to head home so I'll write more in detail how what I though about the test when I get home! Thanks for all the encouragement guys!!!
  2. Just got here an hour earlier than my scheduled time. Trying to convince myself to just go in early and get it over with lol
  3. Well, today's the big day! I'm a little nervous but trying to relax. I've never had much of an issue with test anxiety so I'm not about to let it take control now. Just knowing whatever happens is what's meant to happen this time in my life. I've studied for the last two weeks or so with Kaplans online demand class. My Q trainer scores were anywhere to high 50's to 68 with QT 6 being a 57%, QT 7 a 63.4%, and the readiness test a 68%. Hoping that's good enough for an easy passing score on today's boards! Wish me luck! I don't test until early afternoon eastern time so I'll be on then to hopefully tell of my good pop up!!!
  4. Well I took the readiness test from Kaplan and got a 68.33%. That's good? Testing in 3 days! Gah!
  5. Your scores looks just like mine! I haven't taken trainers 6 & 7 (will tomorrow and Sunday). I test on Wednesday and I am BEYOND scared! Everyone I know says ill do great but its like, would they really tell me otherwise? Lol But as nervous as I am, something deep down in me knows ill do fine. If not, I would be rescheduling. We got this! Let us know how you do! :)
  6. I'm not sure if I should reschedule or what. I'm using Kaplans online on-demand class and my scores are not super consistent. My scores aren't the best and I take the NCLEX-RN in ONE WEEK. :/ Not sure if I should reschedule or not. My husband keeps telling me that he knows I will be fine and I keep going back and forth on whether to reschedule and if I am ready or not. Here are my score Diagnostic- 64% QT 1- 65% QT 2- 59% QT 3- 48% QT 4- 62% QT 5- 58% I'm about to take QT 6 and see how that goes after I watch some more of Kaplans content review videos. Any advice? I'm a nervous wreck. I don't want to fail this test next week and have to pay the $200 all over again to take it yet another time
  7. I've held off on really studying recently bc I didn't want to burn myself out before I got my ATT and scheduled my test. But now that I have received my ATT and am starting to buckle down, I'm wondering how long will be sufficient enough to study. I graduated in May and am looking at testing in the next 3 1/2 to 4 weeks. Will that be enough to pass? BTW, I just ordered Kaplans online on demand course to study with. Thanks!
  8. We had an instructor last semester who, before every test, would announce that "since the mind/body will only do what we tell it to do, everybody stand up and yell at the top of your lungs, 'I WILL PASS THIS TEST!'" We thought it was odd and funny the first time, but by the second test, we expected to do it and it helped relieved some anxiety immediately before taking the tests. Also, usually right around mid-term and finals, she'd show us these inspirational/motivational videos she'd find on Youtube right as we'd walk into class and tell us how proud she is of all of us and to keep up the hard work. Oh, and lets not forget about the mints she'd pass prior to testing that she said would help our test taking abilities! :)
  9. Those are AWESOME! I'm starting Med-Surg this week and I know I will be needing these! Thanks in advance! Ashley
  10. We're starting Nursing Agency I this week which is our Med-Surg/Pharm class. I am getting more and more nervous as the days get closer. I have no idea what to expect and I think the fear of the unknown is what is making me freak out. At the same time though, I know deep down I am really excited to begin the "real" stuff, kwim? We can do it! We have come this far, and the way I see it, quitting is not an option! :) Ashley
  11. We get one minute for every question, then an extra 10 minutes on top of that. So for a 60 question exam, we get 70 minutes to complete it. Ashley
  12. We are halfway through the semester too! We've had one project, 2 exams, dosage tests, and countless skills tests that we've already completed. We are now done for the semester for clinical skills tests (still have clinical, but it all for experience for the rest of the semester), and we have 2 more exams and then a comp final left to do. It has FLOWN by! I complain a lot about how time consuming and tiring it is, but I really am LOVING it so far. Lets hope I can still say that come next semester...med/surg. I hear that'll be a real doozy :-/ lol
  13. We had our skills test this past week for injections and med passing. Here is what we were told to do, by our instructors and our books. Draw air into the syringe equal to the amount of medication you will want to obtain from the vial and inject the vial with the air. Do this in the airspace, above the medication. If you inject the air into the medication, then it can cause bubbles to form in the medication, only complicating the procedure. By injecting air, if will create a pressure in the vial which will allow you to easily draw up the actual medication. Once you push the air into the vial, with the needle still in the vial, tilt the vial upside down so that the needle is now in the medication and slowly draw up the amount of medication needed. We were told to draw a tiny bit more than needed so that if we do get an air bubble and need to get rid of it, we will still have the amount of medication needed. Then if after you get rid of the air bubbles and still have a little extra medication in the syringe, you can always expel it, make sense? As for getting rid of the stubborn bubble that always seems to be stuck on the little plunger, is your needle still in the vial when you tap the syringe to get the bubble to go up? If so, try taking the needle our of the vial, safely recapping it (so long as it is an UNUSED needle), and then flicking the syringe to get the bubble to release. Some students in my clinical were trying to get the bubble to release when the needle was still in the vial, but our instructors told us to take the needle out of the vial, then flick it because it's easier to flick the syringe harder. I hope this helps and doesn't confuse you even more. It's hard to explain in words everything.
  14. Good luck. I used to occasionally/socially smoke but stopped over this summer since learning about getting accepted in my program. Maybe try a detox or drink lots of water. Also, if it is a hair test, I know there ARE ways to get around it, like a special shampoo they make now for it. I never used it, but a friend of mine said his employer does hair tests and he got some shampoo and it worked for him. I'm not sure what they'd do if you fail it. Maybe see if there's another clinical group that goes to a different facility that do are not testing? I'm not sure. Either way, good luck not only passing it, but staying clean from here on out.
  15. My husband and I have our 3 kids (ages 3-5-7) and then I have a stepson who lives 3 hours away from us who we have to get (and are required to do ALL driving ourselves) every other weekend. It is hectic, busy, and sometimes a little overwhelming. My husband got laid off from his job a month prior to me starting the program. Thankfully we get unemployment and what's left over from my grants to get us by, but it's still hard. I try to look at it on the bright side as in, he gets to stay home with the kids and do my typical role, while I get the chance to attend school and have as much time alone at home studying. Just try stay focused and motivated. There are times when I wonder if this is all really worth it, then I look at how my husband is unemployed and how hard things are and it motivates me to bust my butt so we never have to be in this situation again once I graduate! :)
