  1. Ok, I see you've asked this a few times, so I'll contribute. I have no real healthcare experience, my undergrad GPA meets their minimum (i.e. not great), but my pre-reqs were all As. My personal statement was probably different from others -- maybe that helped me stand out. I don't know what goes on admissions committee meetings, but I think Pace looks for those who are done with all pre-reqs, can handle the rigor of the program, and will pass the NCLEX on the first try. Best of luck to you in your pre-reqs and applications!
  2. RDR I am so sorry for what you went through. You obviously have a great academic record, so it's disturbing that you were dismissed. I read from another Pace student on this site that if you get Are you applying to other schools, and if so, which ones?
  3. Congrats everyone, especially mairayhans! I was so happy for you because I could sense you were really suffering from the wait. Being employed at a hospital right now is a great advantage. Do what you feel most secure about, but I would vote for doing the 2-year program and keeping your hospital job. I am doing the 1-year program myself for my own reasons.
  4. Hi Vroom – did you end up applying to CoMSV? Did you get any other notable info from the open house? Do you know if the curriculum includes the summer? The next Manhattan info session is June 17th. Just to reiterate what was said above, the school and degrees ARE accredited. I checked the CCNE website. As for the (very) low NCLEX passing rate – yes, that is discouraging. But still, my other option (so far) is a school that has a steadily declining pass rate and charges $1000+ per credit for a 62 credit program, i.e. greater debt for not much greater quality program. Thank you for any input!
  5. I am still waiting, but sincere congratulations to those accepted (finally)! Also sending good wishes to those of us waiting. Mairayhans, I am really rooting for you to get accepted and SOON! It seems like you’ve been waiting the longest, and keeping this thread going.
  6. I find it hard to believe that ANY decision letters have actually gone out for the CDP. I don't think even the admissions office knows what is going on with this program -- they deal with applications for all schools and programs, each having its own special process. Here's an idea for anyone who applied: Call the office and state that you were accepted to another school (NYU, for instance) and you have to pay a deposit by Monday, and you need a decision from Pace soon because it's your first choice and yada yada yada. I doubt that will hurry them up, but they (admissions and the nursing dept.) need to realize that if they delay accepting people any longer, all the good applicants will be taken by other schools.
  7. A'ight, don't get excited -- I don't have any answers about admissions decisions! I'm waiting too. Just here to add what I've heard. I also interviewed on Monday 3/18/2013, and nursing faculty said they were going to hold another interview day in April, and would send decisions at the end of April. I emailed the admissions office that same week, asking when we'd hear back, and they replied "The Nursing Dept. is still conducting CDP interviews. Decision letters should start going out in April." April when? Who knows... I got all application components in just before March 1. My status online went from Incomplete to Complete to In Review. I am still "In Review." And by the way, I believe the interview is a new admissions requirement this year (i.e. not just for those who they deem "on-the-fence"). To those of you who have called the admissions office, did you call the Grad or Undergrad office? Because CDP is admitted through the Grad office. Maybe that would explain the discrepancies.
  8. Hey, I completely identify with what you're feeling -- except I'm not in nursing school yet (just finished Microbio, hopefully my last pre-req). I also have a BA and have been un- and underemployed throughout the past few years, and yeah, it REALLY eats away at one's self-esteem. In spite of that, I've actually done really well in pre-reqs, and that has been my source of confidence. Dwell on your strengths to overcome weaknesses. Every time I am plagued with self-doubt, I think "Hey I'm pretty smart and thousands of people have succeeded in this, and so can I." And if you think you're the only one who is lagging in a topic or skill, just talk about it casually with other classmates, and you'll find out that nearly EVERYONE is lacking in some confidence, and may be more lost than you. And if something is particularly anxiety-inducing, make it your goal to "own it." Practice or study the h__l out of it until it becomes your favorite thing. Just out of curiosity, what kind of program are you in -- ASN, BSN, accelerated BSN?? I wish you the best of luck through the remainder of your program. You're gonna get there!
  9. Ebinbrooklyn: Sorry to hear you were denied at Hunter. But you have all the courses done, so not much to lose in applying (except for the $50 application fee). Concordia's aBSN begins every Fall, so I recommend looking at the Fall 2012 thread to find the stats of people who were accepted for this year. The website says they require a 3.2 undergrad GPA, and you're well above that. I have slightly less than a 3.2 (from a tough school), but since then I've earned all As in pre-reqs. An admissions representative said that I would be considered a competitive applicant despite my low undergrad GPA. They seem to take a holistic look at applicants. I can't speak for them, but I doubt they'd count a low grade in Organic Chem (for example) against you, since they do not require that course. Good luck!!
  10. Hey, I went to an info session at Adelphi Manhattan in the summer, and the requirements are essentially the same. For transfers: Overall GPA of at least 3.0 No more than 2 science pre-req grades below a C+ Passing scores on the TEAS V exam (they host 1 sitting for the exam each term, I think, for $40. But you can also take it on your own for $110-- atitesting.com) PRE-REQS Anatomy & Physio I and II Microbiology Developmental Psychology through the Lifespan Nutrition Chemistry - 4 credits of General Chem AND 4 credits of Organic Chem OR Chem 109 (a special 5-credit course at Adelphi for nurse majors) Pathophysiology Genetics They have info sessions every month or so at the Garden City campus too. Check out their admissions page. Hope this was helpful... GOOD LUCK!
  11. Hello! I am planning to apply for aBSN programs in NYC and (possibly, hopefully) surrounding areas. I've been deluding myself that I have lots of school options, even though I can't drive and could never afford a car even if I did learn. So my simple question (which I asked College of New Rochelle nursing dept. twice and never received a reply): Do you NEED a car to get through BSN programs at CNR, Concordia, Pace-Pleasantville, and/or Adelphi-Garden City? I know a car is obviously an advantage to get to clinicals, but this is so not an option for me. Is there anyone out there who made it through these programs on public transportation? If not, I'll stick to the boroughs. Thank you for your input!
