  1. I work nights and usually end up calling the doctor on call instead of the patient's primary doc. The problem is that the doctors never seem to know what is going on with the patients. I feel like I have to tell them what they should do half of the time. Does anyone else have this problem? Don't you think they should have a better system for reporting off to one another? I feel like faxing them the H&P's that I always end up reading over the phone, along with the progress notes!! Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!!
  2. I am wondering what other people think about new grads going into speciality areas right after graduation. Do you think it is better to do some med/surg and get some basics down before jumping right into a specialized area?
  3. Our hospital is going to computer charting and many of the nurses are opposing this. How do you think it will benefit patient care and helping our staff utilize time better? Or is it just a pain?

I recently had a patient that was getting 750 mg of trazadone at hs, plus 10 mg of ambien, 4 5/325 percocet, and 1 mg of klonopin. Needless to say I verified this order before giving it!! I kept a close eye on her all night, but she hardly slept!! Can you imagine
  6. I am just wondering others thoughts on this subject. I am currently a LPN working on my RN. However, ever since I was in school for my LPN I keep hearing how eventually LPN's will be phased out. I think financially this would be a hard thing to do for hospitals and other facilites. Any other thoughts on this?
