  1. I am in a LPN program. I don't mind the ride as much as I thought, I am sure that will change in bad weather. I find I need that break, well almost a break...lol... between 8 hours of class and coming home to 3 kids and 4 hours or more of studying.
  2. Hi, Don't get discouraged, that is the first thing. You have to stay positive. What I do is do all terminology on index cards (flash cards), then anything the instructor says is important I do that to also. That way I can bring it with me anywhere I go and quiz myself. I have formed a study group of 3 of us and we meet 2 times a week which helps. I have a 50 min ride each way to school, so I just bought a digital voice recorder and am recording the items i put on my cards, this has helped as it is usally wasted time just driving. I think the more you hear it, see it and speak it you will remember it. Hope this helps
  3. I feel this way and haven't started yet ! I said this yesterday to a friend (non-nursing) I have wanted this since high school, now 23 years later I am getting to live my dream. Why am I not jumping up and down everyday? Is it because I am scared of the $10,000 in loans? the 4hrs a day of studying I will have to do? the chance of failing? especially with everyone watching me? Part of me keeps thinking what am I doing, I have cognitive issues after being diagnosed with Later stage Lyme this jan. plus learning disabilities????? am I crazy???? maybe this is the reason for my feeling this way? but yet I am still excited, and hoping the first day will end these jitters... I am glad to see I am not alone...
  4. Thanks, I saw that site but didn't see a messenger bag for $25, the cheapest one there is $98 so figured I must be in the wrong place. Thanks again
  5. Can you tell me what "thirty one" is? I have tried to look this up and can't find it. I am starting school in 2 weeks and am looking for something to use, thanks
  6. 1. WHEN IS YOUR START DATE? Sept 7th 2 WHAT STATE ARE YOU IN? New York 3 PROGRAM (lpn, adn, bsn)? LPN 4 WHAT IS THE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU ARE HOLDING ONTO RIGHT NOW? Find time for yourself to study 5. WHO IS YOUR GREATEST MOTIVATION TO COMPLETE NURSING SCHOOL? Myself-I am the one who will has to motivate myself and keep myself going. I have others that make me want to do better, such as my children, who i want to show that at 43 it is not too late to go back and achieve your dream....never give up...also my mom who passes away 3 years ago suddenly, she was always my best motivator.
  7. Hi, I just wrote from my heart. I didn't look at anyone elses. I wanted it to be something that when it was read the commitee knew it came from me. I tried to write it as if I was talking to my best friend, it took me all day, I would answer one question they asked and go do housework And coe back and do more. This took the stress out of it.
