  1. Google CNA resume examples, career change resume examples. I had no medical experience either but managed to pull together a decent resume highlighting relevant skills from other areas. Congrats and Good luck!
  2. I'd say it depends on how thrifty you are and also how savvy you are in finding employment. LTC facilities will give you tons of experience but pay crap, private duty pays better but isn't as secure. If you are willing to work overtime and pick up shifts it's doable.
  3. To the 300lb 2 person transfer with broken ribs and pelvis....PEE IN YOUR DAMNED BRIEF IF YOU DON'T WANT BE TRANSFERED!
  4. That sounds hinky. So basically they get a free helper and don't have to pay them? Wow.
  5. Our facility starts at $8.75, with a .30 - .50 raise after 90 days.
  6. Sorry about your bad experience, Comidasfritas. Don't let it get you down. In the future, if you have a patient that does not like a spanish worker, then see if you can trade this patient with another CNA or have someone else in the room with you as a witness. It is scary that a job and license can be lost because of one person's lies. Keep your head up and find a job that will appreciate your skills.
  7. I might be too new to be fed up, but these are the things that are grating my nerves. The lack of teamwork - only the newbies help each other, everyone else is outside smoking or hooking up. The lack of supervision - CNAs sitting at the nurses station all night, their section lit up like a xmas tree and noone saying a word to them about it. The highschoolish gossip. WTH? Are we all 12? Regardless of assignment, if you're the first one to bring a pt to assisted dining, you've got to stay...because noone else will. I've been identified as "a hard worker" so basically, I'm screwed. And finally, the fact that getting crapped on was the absolute highlight of my evening last night. lol
  8. I just started a new job two weeks ago and last night completely forgot to change and gown a patient before he went to sleep - I feel like the Biggest Loser!! Holy cow. I'm struggling to establish a routine and have a few needy patients that keep me running for the tiniest of things and the one that needed the most real care, I forgot all about him! Ugggggghhh. I will get over it, I will move on, I will learn from it, but I'm still beating myself up over it.
