  1. Hello, I feel like I have run out of options to who I can turn to for some medical advice. I have Medi-cal and the hospital I go through seems like they just arent very caring for their patients. I am 30 weeks pregnant as of today, and on September 23, I was admitted for a kidney infection. I was there for 2 days was sent home and told to come back the following evening to recieve the 3rd dose of IV antibiotics for the kidney infection. I went back and was told by whatever doctor at L&D that I was misinformed and those arent their procedures and they sent me home. Well I had already picked up my oral antibiotics but I was told to take those 24 hours after the last dose of the IV antibiotics. I started to take those as perscribed, and suddenly had horrible diahrrea. I went to see my doctor, she said it was just a side effect from the antibiotics and brushed it off it seemed like. Well I had diahrrea for 2 days then was constipated with horrible cramping for a day and then had diahrrea for 3 days straight and went to L&D because it was that bad. Turns out I developed C. difficle infection from the antibiotics that were prescribed for the kidney infection. I then recieved antibiotics for the C. difficle and asked the doctor there if they were going to switch my kidney infection antibiotics and she said "no you can continue taking the ones you have been." I was confused by this as to I thought you would have to stop since it caused another infection and start on different antibiotics.. Anyways, I am almost done with that dose I have about 2 days left but my diahrrea is comming back and I have all of the symptoms I had for the kidney infection again. What do I do?? I dont know what they will tell me to do now..I dont want to keep taking antibiotics that keep making me sicker. If i could get some advice I would appreciate it so much.
  2. ER NURESE- you are right about the vaccine as well. I do have a circular scar on my arm as well as all of my siblings and fellow croatians :) I just didnt know if it was from the vaccine or from my father having had TB back when I was little.
  3. Thank you!! :yeah:That makes me feel better
  4. Thank you thats exactly what Im hoping!! :) I have a clear xray each time..Its been a hastle for me for years and years but I just wanted to make sure I would be able to still apply and get accepted.
  5. WOW that is a lot of classes!!! I am attending Mission Community College in Santa Clara CA. It does clearly state that if you have more science courses it gives you a better chance of getting accepted into the program. It also states that they recommend a few classes to be taken before the LVN program but it is not required. So I have the option to take more classes and have a better chance of getting in..
  6. Hello, Ok I was originally born in Croatia Europe and moved here when I was 9 in 1996. While living in Croatia I was exposed to TB and my TB results always come up positive but I have always had a clear x-ray. Its dormant in me I guess since I was exposed. Is this going to be an issue with getting accepted into the nursing program???? I am reading the instructions for the acceptance into the program for my college and it states you need a negative result on your TB, WELL i ALWAYS get positive and then have to do an X ray...AM I GOING TO GET ACCEPTED??????? IM WORRIED NOW!!! HELLPPP I did post this in the student thread also but thought Id ask in this thread to see if any nurses have been through this...

  8. Yes Im also shocked that some of the students say that they had a lot of pre reqs. The ones for Mission College are Bio science and English1A in order to start their LVN program which is a 3 semester program. And then the RN bridge is a LVN-RN summer transition course and then 2 semesters after that. So I am looking at about 2 1/2 years Id guess...But as far as the GE courses, I am taking 12 units this semester and then 12 next semester but I am also doing the pre reqs next semester also. So I should be complete with the GE and pre reqs by the end of the spring semester. Then I can start the LVN program..
  9. I am starting a CC on 8/29 and am trying to figure out how long it will take me to complete my General Education requirements. From my calculations I will be done with the required courses by the completion of Spring Semester. I am hoping i can jump right into the LVN program at my school and then continue to their RN bridge program. I plan on working my butt off at school and taking as many classes as I possibly can to get done. Just wondering how long it might have taken some you ladies??? Thanks :)
  10. Don't get me wrong, there are some good things about the school and those were reasons I signed up. I just wish I would have done more research before I did because it just wasnt the place for me. I had an academic counselor and financial aid advisor assinged as do most students I believe, but the problem was they kept changing like every other month it seemed like. I think they mixed up my information and I have been trying to speak with whoever I can about this but all they keep telling me is to pay the bill. I am NOT paying for something I didnt take thats ridiculous and now they wont give me my transcript? Its crazy to me but I guess its just how they work. But a few friends of mine that actually were able to get a transcript were told the credits werent acceptable, so that kind of sucks as well. I just cant believe that these private schools can get away with so much stuff as they do. Its not just UOP, its all these other private colleges that Ive looked into as well. I know that a CC is the best choice for me because it is a legitamite college, the credits are legitamite and all of that, I am just upset that I have to start from scratch but I will do it if I have to of course.
  11. I am feeling pretty discouraged lately in starting my Nursing Career. I was so excited when I thought I found the right school and program, then I found out that school was way to expensive and many many bad reviews and even people saying they were looking into lawsuits. So I said, forget it and decided to go to one of the CC here in my area. I had completed 21 out of 24 general ed courses at University of Phoneix. I stopped going there because they too were too expensive and were trying to charge me over 2k for a class I never even took. It just didnt see right and I didnt want to waste anymore time there and get further in debt with them. Well, I signed up at the CC and need to get my transcript so they can transfer my units from UOP so I can just focus on the pre reqs for the nursing program before starting that in January. I called UOP and asked to get my transcript mailed or if I can just come by and pick it up and they proceed to tell me that they cant give me a transcript because of the balance on the account. I argued back and forth with the lady about how they are still seriously charging me for a class i NEVER even took or signed up for and she just kept saying until a payment is made I cant get my transcript!! I dont know what to do now!!!!!!!! Not only did, Im hearing from prior University of Phoenix students who tried to transfer to a new college and the credits werent accepted anywhere!! OMG now I am stuck having to start everything all over and work on my General Ed first which is going to hold me back from starting the Nursing Program in January. I am really bummed out!!!! I feel like my DREAM of being a nurse just keeps getting shattered by all these bumbs in the road!!! I dont know what to do!!
  12. Its so funny that you said that because I came across an ad for a job posting that litterally asked for the most recent picture of the applicant lol
