  1. I hope someone will answer this because I am also interested in attending Niagara U. and getting dual licensed in Canada and the U.S..
  2. Thank you, that is helpful.
  3. Thank You, If I may ask do you travel to the area or live in the area? If you travel, do you rent a hotel room on your own or do you connect with other students doing the same?
  4. Hi everyone, I am researching WGU as an option for my Pre-Licensure BSN. The one thing that isn't completely clear is how the skills assessment and skills lab are set up, completed, signed off on. How does this part work? The information would be appreciated. Thanks! Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays!
  5. I've been going through these posts to research the ABSN option at Roseman. I have some questions/clarifications to ask? When and how are labs done. My understanding of these posts is that the Didactic portion is online and clinicals are scheduled at the end of the block so that you are only doing clinicals at that time. Which brings me back to when, frequency, and how labs are done. Also, due to this being online, would it be possible to commute to Las Vegas if you live in Nevada to complete the clinical portion. If students are completing most or half of this online then why are students still having to move to Las Vegas instead of coming to Las Vegas to complete the hands on portion. I'm not trying to be negative or nit pick at what I've read. I'm just trying to understand so that I can make a decision. Thank You
  6. Would you be willing to share to your list for the approved schools offering the biochemistry class? I am also looking I fo attending WGU.
  7. Read the book "The No A**hole Rule". It is enlightening.
  8. O.K., This may sound wierd but liston to that sick feeling. Your body is trying to tell you that what is happening isn't all in your head and it is going into stress overload, physically. It just can't handle the intense level of drama anymore and it can no longer decompress effectively even after work hours. I have worked in a place much like the one you have described with supervisors and co workers just as you have described. But still, follow my advice about taking notes. You don't know what may happen or how bad it may get between now and when you start a new job.
  9. Oh, by the way, find another job in the meantime.
  10. First of all, never take a bully personally. Secondly, she is a bully but legally she is harassing you and creating a hostile work environment. So if you have done everything you possibly can do this. Sit down and write down how long this is been going on. Write out in detail everything you remember including when it started. Begin taking notes of dates, times, and any incidents. Yes, I know this part sounds petty but it sounds neccessary. Yes, management and others may know about but are they actively doing anything to resolve this possible. Make an appointment with them and take your notes with you so that you don't come across as whiney. Practice your opening statement to them and stay calm while they question you. The greatest weapon a bully has is your secrecy and goodness. Don't let her get away with disempowering you. You do have policies and law on your side. Do not rely simply on age old tactics of standing up to her. Her ego is greater than yours and power( in her opinion) is a massive trip. Look at as a type of drup for her and ,and let's face it, addicts do not give up their drugs. Best of luck.
  11. Hey, check the newspapers in the area of the potential employer and try to go back about 5 years. If anything major happened it might be that (i.e. continuation of a major audit, fire, or nurses strike). Also, anyone that you meet that is an RN, LPN, or CNA ask them how they like there work, the facility they work for, and what places they've heard good things about. While your at it share your plans and don't restrict yourself to employment in nursing homes. It may sound strange but I had a chance encounter at Barnes and Noble with a complete stranger. She was nice, willing to talk and suggested places for me to apply and stay away from. When I did further research I found out the hospital she warned me against had had a nurses strike only a few years ago and the facility still had done very little to improve treatment of nurses, assistants and other support staff. Employees in the offices were miserable. So remember, speak up and talk to people.
  12. I was wondering what the requirements for and the possibilities are for a Forensic Nurse to become a Medical Examiner or Coroner? It is my understanding that this career is usually held by doctors.
