So, what happened at the hearing? You never followed up with "more info to follow." You seemed to be the only IP in Ohio that knew about this hearing.

LOL How do you know none of us belong to or support any professional organizations?? I happen too...may not be the ones you want me to support, but really is it any of your business? Just because myself and others won't support the organizations who wanted our money, but would not give us a voice, does not mean we do not belong to any nursing organizations.

So, what is happening with this hearing? The 15th is fast approaching.....I have talked w/many independents, but nobody seems to know about this hearing!?

Your guess, would be as good as mine. I think, someone is just blowing smoke. The person who wrote that statement, could have privately emailed us through here or emailed IPS through our emails listed on carestar, but nothing.....nobody I know of has heard anything, as usual.

When I had worked for an agency providing homecare nursing, I had my background check/fingerprints done. I was told it would be done annually. Since I have been a independent provider nurse for the state waiver program, I am checked annually. More and more agencies and facilities are performing them annually.

IPS, IPS, come out where ever you are...

Also, try posting on here asking if there are any nurses with prior DUI or in a similiar situation, and see if you cannot get more of a response. I wish, I had more info so I could help you. Not as many as you think are clueless. Tell me who do we trust? Do you have the documentation to substantiate your statement that the LPNAO and Ohioip.net fought and had that rescinded? IPS were fighting and did not know which way to turn. If I remember correctly, the ohioipnet was originally in talks with the union rep, Nick. IPS were being swayed that way. Then got swayed another way. I agree, the union should be contacting her/him. JMO Independents do not need a union.......we are independent providers for a reason. We do need a voice to rally on our behalf, but not a union. I don't know who encouraged you "TO LET ALL IPS KNOW AND FIND A Safe Legal WAY TO BE HEARD." I personally have NEVER heard of IPS not using legal ways to be heard. You sound kind of silly.

OH MY! Do I dare say this new rule was fabricated. Seriously though, is this a new rule? IP nurses cannot work a case for 2 weeks, but an agency nurse can :yeah:OH MY, OH MY, OH MY....

I do not know anything about this type of situation. I would think, if you contacted the board of nursing and asked them, you could find out. You do not have to give them your name. Just tell them you are considering getting back into nursing and have some questions. I hope everything works out well for you!

Why do you think that is? Personally, I feel this would be a time all IPS would want to pull together, support and stand up for each other. What are they afraid of? IPS are NOT responding to the pay cut anywhere that I am aware of. Not just on here, but not anywhere. Seems kind of strange to me.

Independent Provider nurses are not more difficult to control. We have to follow the OHC rules just like agency nurses. We are audited on our paperwork and billing just like agencies. Trust me, we are held accountable for everything and MORE. We have thorough background checks, CPR, etc..... If you have any nursing violations or restrictions, you cannot be an IP in the state of Ohio. The one agency, has made the local newspaper a few times. Let us see....oh yea, they sent a RN to work who they really had not done the required criminal background check. If they had done it, they would have known she had a suspended nursing license. Then, their other nurse (LPN) who was providing homecare to a man who was quadraplegic w/ bilateral arm amputations, abused him. Then harrassed him and his family, I believe by phone and on the internet. So, you see does it really matter if you are an agency nurse or a independent nurse? If someone is going to do something they are just going to do it. Just because a nurse works for a agency does not mean he/she is more supervised in the consumer's home. All it means is they have a RN supervisor who comes out every 60 days. IP LPNs have a RN supervisor too who comes out! The case managers like when agency is in the home, because once they put an agency on the all service plan, they do not have to make any changes to it even though multiple agency nurses may come and go. But, if an IP is on the consumer case, they have to go in and update, if the IP leaves and a new one starts. If they are going to eliminate us, then let them.......we cannot stop them.....we have no one advocating for us. The state wants carestar and nursing agencies to control the program, so let them and let us all see what happens. One of the largest nursing agencies in region 4 of Ohio runs ads nonstop everywhere for RN/LPNs for homecare......they cannot seem to keep them. The nonstop ads are starting to make them look desperate.Why is that? I know some consumers are saying they have had too many different carestar case managers? Why is that? What happened to them? How can there be continuity for a consumer when it does not exist. So if those running the Ohio Home Care Program really think they are going to solve the problems of this program by cutting our pay 20 % then let them. Just wondering, how does the ODJFS have the money to pay Carestar millions? How much of a pay reduction did Carestar take? Does anyone know?

Who is having this hearing on August 15th? Almost all IPS emails and phone numbers are listed on Carestar for contacting. IPS are just a small group of people trying to make an honest living. People like us do not ever get support, so I doubt a hearing is going to help. We do not have money to talk for us, so we do not have support!

You are 100 % correct. IPS solved their problem. The agencies whined about it. I worked for a agency a few years ago for about 6-7 months. I was told consumers should not be able to request services from independent providers only!! Well that right could not be taken away from the waiver consumers so instead they are taking our pay away from us to eliminate us, one by one. I would like to know what other group of nurses in Ohio did Kasich cut 20 % from??! NONE

I am glad I finally had the time to sign up on this site and speak my mind! I am confused about the 20 % pay cut. My billing co. told me it was 20 % for the first and every hr. Then I hear from other nurses who talked to their billing companies they were told it was for only the loading hr. Does the right hand know what the left is doing? My question is why weren't we sent notices about the pay cut to our ohiohcp page? katnursey is correct in saying it depends on the website you are looking at. Information is being posted differently and IPS are all being told different information.. If I should hear anything I will let you all know. Isn't this the way it has always been for us?! A confusing mess time after time.....we are always the last to know what is going on. I have 2 teenagers to support. 20 % is a lot for me to lose. I love working as a independent nurse but will have to work at the nursing home full-time where I currently work at PRN. I have already talked with the D.O.N about this. I read where the 20 % pay cut to IPS and not to agencies is because they have rent to pay and overhead costs that we do not have. This is not true!! I have rent to pay, a car payment, 2 kids to support, overhead costs too, etc. We all do. There is only maybe 1,000 IPS or so left in Ohio, so they cut our pay by 20 %, when Kasich could have surely balanced his budget much easier by increasing the agencies pay cuts more. This should have been a equal cut for all. Do you realize how many agencies there are in Ohio? The statement made taking 20 % from IPS so agencies would not suffer a pay cut like us is idiotic. Yes, I do believe they are going to eliminate us one by one. The clients/patients/consumers will suffer from this. Did they think about the consumers when they posted their VICTORY statement and sent emails out about it? To actually brag how they were involved and secured relief for the agencies was in poor taste. I am totally disgusted.
