Amy, When you read all the ins and outs it states that payment is less that of federal taxes, so it will be considerably less than what our actual % is. We are also responsible for state and local taxes where applicable.

I just received a phone call from HRSA that I clicked the wrong button and my fax had the wrong award information on it, that I needed to get it changed immediately and refax within the hour that she had made a note to hold my information awaiting the change. I hope that is good news. I accidently clicked NFP instead of NELRP-NF. My stomach is in knots and I cannot even work or think. This will be the longest month of my life!!!!

Mainly just grants were awarded by the HHS director (whom we are waiting to sign our paper) so we should be hearing something soon; which some luckily are. That's all. Not for sure if it is congruent, but I know this same time last year it was announced, then people started to state they were receiving the letters.

Tess, This is where all the grant money comes from. I am currently waiting on the NELRP faculty grant myself and that appears to be the first one funded according to the first list of recipients. Below is the breakdown and how many recipients. Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention ($10.9 million – 33 awards) Strengthens nursing education and practice capacity by supporting initiatives that expand the nursing pipeline, promote career mobility for nurses, prepare more nurses at the baccalaureate level, and provide continuing education training to enhance the quality of patient care. The Affordable Care Act modified the program to enhance its focus on activities that help improve nurse retention. Nursing Workforce Diversity ($3.6 million – 11 awards) Increases nursing education opportunities for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, including racial and ethnic minorities underrepresented among registered nurses. Grants support educational opportunities for students to become registered nurses and opportunities for practicing registered nurses to pursue a baccalaureate degree in nursing. The Affordable Care Act amended the program to include support for advanced nursing education preparation, diploma and associate degree nurses entering bridge or degree completion programs and accelerated nursing degree program students. Nurse Faculty Loan Program ($23.4 million – 109 awards) Assists registered nurses in completing their graduate education to become qualified nurse faculty. Through grants to eligible entities, offers partial loan forgiveness for borrowers that graduate and serve as full-time nursing faculty for the prescribed period of time. The Affordable Care Act increased the annual loan limit to $35,500 from $30,000 and established a priority for doctoral nursing students. Advanced Nursing Education Program ($16.1 million – 55 awards) Supports advanced nursing education specialty programs that educate registered nurses to become nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, nurse anesthetists, nurse-midwives, nurse educators, nurse researchers/scientists, public health nurses and other advanced nurse specialists. Advanced Education Nursing Traineeships ($16 million – 349 awards) Funds traineeships at eligible institutions for registered nurses enrolled in advanced education nursing programs. Traineeships prepare nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, nurse-midwives, nurse anesthetists, nurse administrators, nurse educators, public health nurses and nurses in other specialties requiring advanced education. The Affordable Care Act removed the 10 percent cap in this program that limited the amount of support that could go to nursing students pursuing doctoral degrees. Nurse Anesthetist Traineeships ($1.3 million – 76 awards) Supports traineeships at eligible institutions for licensed registered nurses enrolled as full-time students in their second year of a two-year nurse anesthetist master's program.

NELRP 2011
Yeah I went back to NELRP and verified their examples they give and I am actually 241 % debt/income ratio. If this is good news...LOL!!!

NELRP 2011
Yes it states NELRP and has a priority exclamation mark.

I cannot believe we will have to wait until September. I wonder why the heck it takes so long? I believe so far I am the only one working at a critical shortage area University. My percentage exactly is 241%, and I am from IN and on Blue team.

NELRP 2011
I went for ADN, then for BSN, and then MSN in nursing education. So you can only imagine how little I do make being a teacher!!! I am thankful that they opened it up to faculty.

Hello All, I am new to this site and wanted to respond a little as well. Like you all I am very nervous and now even more after reading all the responses. I have too received the email from the blue team (I am in IN), faxed accordingly, exclamation point behind my name, dates changed on the loan page, inquiries on my credit report from two different places, and no negative events on my credit report. The main question I have is if you all are figuring your debt to income ratio correctly. On the HRSA website it is your income divided by the amount of your student loan. This makes mine to be around 60%. If you guys are doing correctly do you have 200,000 or more in student loans? I am just curious because I only have 110,000 and wondered if there is even a chance of getting it. This is my third year applying. Last year I received that letter that was talked about in earlier post that stated I was eligible but denied. I researched this last year and sent in an inquiry of why. They emailed me back and basically said that I was selected, but I had sent in too much information. I believe that was extremely helpful. I realize this is like the lottery, but the waiting is killing me just like you all.
