Narcotics
Sounds like maybe the CNA wanted it done "right now", so she could finish with the patient. Definitely narcs first, then the Cath change. And yes, the charge nurse could have stepped up to help if it was urgent.

Enrolled in the excelsior program
Thank you Lunah!! I never thought of that. I don't know how to use that program, but I'm sure going to check into it. I have found, with previous education, that having a study buddy is the best way to go. Do you know what the "other programs" are like Sype? Do you have other study tips?

Enrolled in the excelsior program
Hi there. I also am studying for my first exam, Health Safety, and felt the same way. I ordered a cd from studygroup101 off of eBay for around $10. This is a condensed version of the content guide and tons of sample test questions. I am also doing a 7 day free trial for RnBridgeprogram.com, which is an online series of videos, kind of like a lecture, then you take a test after each video. I really like this because I am more of a visual learner. If I go beyond the 7 days it will cost $147 a month. If I still am not understanding a concept, then I read about it in a Fundamentals of Nursing book. When I'm done with the above I will do the Excelsior practice exams, I think they are around $85. What exam are you studying for? I wish I could figure out a way to have a study buddy, but I'm not sure how that will work if I can't find someone in my area so we can get together. I can't see it working to study over the phone with someone else. Anyone have any tips on that? Good luck to you.

looking into excelsior
Keep in mind that you will need the gen ed requirements also. A&P, Micro, Life Span, Algebra, English, ect. Some people do some or all of the gen eds at a community college and then enroll at Excelsior for the nursing portion or Excelsior offers the gen eds also. Some people use Clep, Dantes or Ace test outs. So you will need to decide on that first. As far as how long it takes......that is up to you. Please do not go through a publishing company for study guides, you can get them on eBay for a fraction of the cost. Good luck to you.

A&P through Straighterline Approved
It will only affect you if you have gen eds left to do.

A&P through Straighterline Approved
After Oct 1,2012 Excelsior will only allow 7 ACE credits. Clep and Dantes will not be affected. This is my understanding. I recently filled out admission paperwork for Excelsior. They sent me a letter with my transcript review, in that letter was that change and that after Oct.1 Transitions will no longer be able to be done prior to enrollment. So, if you get Health Safety and Transitions done before Oct.1 you will be fine.

Just took the worst test of my life... ETHICS!!!
Thanks for the tip and the scare. Lol. What else did you use to study?

A&P through Straighterline Approved
I wanted to let everyone know that I spoke with an advisor this morning from Excelsior College and he told me that A&P 1 and 2 would be accepted from Straighterline, to fullfill the requirement for LPN to RN. A lab is NOT needed. After reading some other posts I called back to ask if a lab portion was needed if an RN was going to go on for a BSN through Excelsior, the answer i got was no, it is not required for either. I personally am going to go this route, after much research it seems that there is a high sucess rate and might be easier than trying to test out of a large exam covering so much material at one time. This is an ACE approved exam, so you need to be done by OCT.1, 2012 for it to not count toward your 7 accepatable ACE exams.

PASSED Transitions today!!!!
Medic1403 I also have the Rue material. I purchased what I though was the entire study lot for all of the nursing courses and some gen eds. I can not find anything for Health Safety. Did you have a textbook and study guide for Health Safety through Rue or was it the reading from thief Fundamentals textbook? Thank you in advance for your time!!

Grand Rapids Michigan LPN to RN Study Buddy
Hello. I am just getting started. I need A&P, Micro, Life Span, and then the nursing courses. I have the study materials for Health Safety and was going to get started on that first. I'm wondering if there is anyone in my area that wants to study together? I also have the Rue study materials.

One month time I finished
May I please ask if you are an enrolled student at Excelsior yet? I filled out admission paperwork, but have not enrolled. I wanted to wait until I had the pre reqs done first to save money. The problem is Excelsior will not tell me what's accepted until I enroll. I was also looking at Straighterline. For the LPN to RN do we need A&P 1 with or without lab and A&P 2 with or without lab? Both? I'm very frustrated. Also, did you use anything else to study or just Straighterline? Do they have a lot of practice tests that you can keep going over? I appreciate your time.
