New grad RN starting salary 2017 & 2018
"Thank you. This is what I'm looking for. It helps to have a comparison of actual numbers in different states" Looking only at the pay rate without taking into consideration the cost of living, is making a comparison in a vacuum. If the cost of living where you live is 2X that of mine, of course seeing that you make almost 1.5X more per hour than I do, would make it seem like a lot of money. It's a lot more than just how much per hour.

Pasadena City College LVN to RN Program
Well, I believe all those who showed up had to have taken and passed the TEAS, because we had until 9/11 to accept or decline the admission offer, and also to have official TEAS scores sent from ATI. During the orientation, we were told we had till 10/26 (1st day of class) to complete a to-do list, including immunizations, malpractice insurance, test prep material purchases, textbook purchases.

Hello Medulla, there were 20 of us at the orientation, however I don't know whether there were any no-shows.

A Happy labor Day to the AN family; I hope you've all had a pleasant day with you families and friends. I'm hoping someone on this forum can provide me with some insight; I've been accepted into the PCC bridge program beginning on 10/26. I could use some heads-up on what to anticipate during the 8-week transition semester, if anyone has been through this program. Any information will be appreciated, as I prepare for the mandatory orientation in a couple of weeks. Thanks in advance.

I have Misdemeanor Convictions in my past. Board wants more info...
Hi nycmoon, I haven't walked a foot in your shoes, however I worked at a residential treatment facility for a couple of years, and helped the residents with job applications, court-related progress reports. The one thing I can share with you is that rehabilitation is very big with licensing/certification boards, employers, and courts. So in addition to providing as much info as can be supported by documentation, letters from character witnesses, progress reports, and your own statement will also go a long way. The nursing board will request records from the courts, so you don't want to omit anything and have that show up in the report. Be patient and stay optimistic, your approval will be granted.

Nurses in trouble get second chances - Minnesota
RNInterupted, your posting is very touching; I commend you for all your achievements, and sympathize with you for what you've been through and had to deal with. The two things I'd like to say to you is, first of all, you have nothing to be ashamed of. Your achievements speak for themselves. Many have not seen a quarter of the struggle you've been through and yet, have nothing to show for themselves. So lift up your head and hold it up high. Secondly, remember this; life isn't simply about how many times we get knocked down, but rather how many times we get back up, and keep fighting for what we believe. You probably have heard/read/seen this before: pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and go get what is yours. Do not let anyone determine what you will or won't achieve. That decision should be made on your terms. Pick up that resume, edit and proofread it, then post it wherever you can. If you have to explain what happened to 100 hiring managers before you can get your foot back in the door, do so. I wish you the best as you move forward. God bless.
