  1. Hey lauraheatherj! No, I haven't heard anything yet either! Super anxious, too! I check web advisor at least 3-4 times a day;, it's driving me crazy! Thanks, good luck to you as well!
  2. Hi lauraheatherj, I've applied for the ABSN Summer '13 cohort at MSMC as well. Haven't heard back from them yet. Waiting anxiously...
  3. It says "Denied to the College." I called Admissions and one of the assistant directors told me that my GPA was a little low; however, I was very close to getting accepted. She just told me to keep up with my grades for the last two prereq's that I'm taking. In fact, she said that I had the highest science prerequisite GPA out of everyone, which made me feel good, haha. She also said that she is pretty confident that I'll get in the next round (Summer 2013). Can't get my hopes up just yet. I do feel a little relieved though because I'm getting married two days before the program starts and I know that I'll be very stressed out if I was in the program. Plus, I'll get to go on my honeymoon :) Melvadere is right, too, about financial aid. You get more in the Summer than in the Fall. Good luck to everyone else :)
  4. I got denied Probably because I'm still taking Chemistry... I think they encourage you to get your science prerequisites done before applying. I'm going to apply again in November. Good luck to all of you!
  5. Welcome melvadere! We're all waiting anxiously to hear back from MSMC as well! It's all so nerve-racking... They usually email or call regarding interviews. I've been checking my email religiously! It's about time they notify us about interviews.
  6. Haven't heard back either! The start date for the program is August 20th.
  7. I would say pretty important!
  8. Hi Star28, I'm in another thread (MSMC ABSN Fall 2012 cohort) and one person called Admissions to see where they were in the process. They actually haven't even looked at the applications yet. They'll be sending out emails for interviews in mid to late May. I guess I won't be checking my WebAdvisor for a while, haha.
  9. Hi raymondt77, Mine also says "Complete, in review process." Oh, wow they haven't even looked at the applications? Well, thanks for letting us know when they'll send out emails for interviews! :)
  10. Hi Star28, I also got rejected in the first round (May 2012 cohort) because my Physics/Chemistry class was expired (didn't check carefully, oops!) I'm in the same position as you with my undergraduate GPA and prereqs GPA! We hear from them that late? Wow, it's going to be a while then. I've been checking my WebAdvisor a couple times everyday since I've applied. Waiting is not fun! Hopefully, we all get in :)
  11. Hi monlu, Welcome to the thread! Good luck to you as well :) Hopefully, we all get accepted into this program!
  12. Hi raymondt77, I haven't heard anything yet Mine says, "Complete-In Review Process" under Admission Status in WebAdvisor. I literally check a couple times each day. It's driving me insane... Hopefully, we'll hear back in a couple of weeks! Keeping fingers crossed!
  13. hi nat714, congrats on getting into msmc absn program! wish i was in your position! i'm also planning on working for a bit before getting my msn. i want to eventually become a crna (certified registered nurse anesthetist). but we'll see :) i'm not sure if there's a facebook group for the may 2012 cohort. i think this thread slowly turned into msmc absn fall 2012. i wish you the best of luck in the program! take care.
  14. Did anyone hear back from Admissions yet???? I can't wait any longer! I'm getting so anxious...
  15. Hi raymondt77, Wow, impressive! It's great that you're in all of these clubs and societies :) Good luck with the rest of your semester/quarter in school!
  16. Did anyone hear back from Admissions yet? Eeek, can't stand the wait! Every time I check WebAdvisor, my heart races...
  17. Hi RickyLatino87, I know some ABSN programs in California :) In Northern California: Cal State University-San Marcos, Samuel Merritt University. In Southern California: Cal State University-Northridge, Concordia University-Irvine, Loma Linda University, and National University (San Diego). I'm not sure which ABSN program is the best... I would guess Samuel Merritt or MSMC :)
  18. Hi raymondt77, I'm currently a Nurse TCAB (transforming care at the bedside) volunteer at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood, CA. I've been volunteering since June of 2011. I basically do patient safety rounds (check for spills, hazardous materials, cords sticking out, etc.), help with the nurse unit, and shadow nurses. I really love it and I've gained so much experience doing it.
  19. Oh and as for the NCLEX passing rate. I'm not that worried about it. I think as longer as you study and know what you're doing, I'm sure you'll pass. I don't think it necessarily has to do with the materials the faculty are teaching or how they are teaching. There can be many factors to why the passing rate is low. A couple of my friends graduated in the summer 2011 cohort and they said the exam wasn't that bad - they obviously passed it. But anyways, I'm sure everything will be okay! MSMC has such a great nursing program and it has been established since the 1950s. So I wouldn't worry :)
  20. Hi Rickylatino87,That actually happened to me the last time I applied for the summer 2012 cohort. They didn't get one of my letter of recs until the day the app was due. I don't know what happened...Anyways, this time I turned everything very early and my app is complete and in review process.Good luck!
  21. Hi kaolla56, Make sure you finish your science prerequisites before applying to the program since the science courses are weighed more heavily than the rest of the prereqs! I actually got denied for the ABSN Summer 2012 cohort because of one Chemistry course that was expired (Didn't check the application carefully). Just to let you know they're pretty strict about whether or not you've completed your science courses :\ Good luck :)
  22. Hey trulyours, Not sure if I've replied to your post. Sorry if I didn't! Where is NU? Did you mean NYU? I didn't apply anywhere else except MSMC. I want to stay in LA; plus I don't want to leave my fiancé alone here! Would hate to not be able to see him He has a permanent job that he loves, thus not being able to move anywhere. Good luck!
  23. Hi sugarlips, Yeah I'm thinking about Wells Fargo - they seem reasonable to me. Oh, wow sounds crazy. I hope it's not as competitive next year or the year after... I'm scared I won't get a job right after I graduate. A couple of my friends graduated with a BSN around 2009-2011 and they got jobs right away. I hope everything with the economy works out and becomes a lot better. The job process seems so complicated! I hope everything works out well for you! As for getting my loan, I'm only going to get the amount I need to pay for the program. My fiancé has good income and he's going to take care of everything else :) Good luck with the second job interview!
  24. Hey raymondt77,Right now I'm taking my last two classes (last semester!). I graduated in 2010 so I already have my BA degree.I'm applying for financial aid through FAFSA to get the maximum amount, which I believe is around $12,500 and then get another loan through Wells Fargo.Good luck!
