Divorce and nursing school
My husband filed for divorce back in june because he does not want to stop his daily routine of drinking and told me that my schooling has put us in so much debt that we will never get ahead. Since dec i took a break from school because i could no longer afford it, but after saving money i was able to transfer to a new program and started in aug. i have 9 months left in this new program, but im wondering, how do you cope? Lately i have been feeling like my world is crashing down on me and the amount of work i have for school is overwhelming. I know i dont want him back because of his alcohol problem but it hurts to know that he would rather have alcohol over me. We were married for 5 yrs but together for 14 yrs. any suggestions or advice would be appreciated

Help paying for school
have you looked into loans through the bank? Sometimes they will offer you something. The other thing I would suggest is paying out of pocket and go on a month to month basis on what you would owe the current school for payback of your tuition. If this is doable, I would go that route, so this way you do not have to take out a loan at all. When that semester is over, either take a semester off, or pay month to month. I had to do this with my schooling, and let me tell you it was not fun, but at least I did not come out with more debt. Now I am in a situation where I need to stop going to school completely because I cannot afford it anymore, but that is not stopping me from finishing my degree in the future.

Any schools in IL that will take a student halfway through BSN program?
The reason I had to take this class elsewhere is because halfway through my pharm class, the teacher was fired and we did not have anyone else step up to finish teaching the course. I had the option to come back the following semester and take the pharm class at my current school (although at the time, they did not know if it was going to be offered), or take it at another school. I did talk to the Dean of the school and sent him the syllabus of the pharm class at the other school. He agreed that I could take it at another institution. After taking said class at another institution, the grading scale at that school went by a point system ( A. B, C). My school bases grades off of A+ A- and so forth. So when I came back to my nursing school with a C (but the points stated a C+ my nursing school told me that the grade I achieved was not accepted. I had to sit before the board and explain that the grade I did achieve was a C+ but because they went by points, they did not offer pluses and minuses. At the end I ended up transferring out of the nursing program.

St Xavier University (anyone go here)
Looking to transfer from one BSN program to another. Since I am already in a BSN program and know what to expect at my school, what is it like at St Xavier? How many students in a class/clinical? Minimum passing percentage for classes (are tests and hw graded together or separate)? Pro's/Con's of the nursing program Are professors willing to help you pass if you need extra help? Is ATI or HESI integrated into the courses? If so, do you need a passing score before completing the class? Any other information you can give me? I will be meeting with the nursing dean within the next week or so.

Nursing school and Statistics
thanks everyone. No tutors for this class. The only person I can meet with is the professor. I have met with other fellow students before the exam, and no one is doing well in this class. I feel like we are all lost and have no one else to turn to for help.

Nursing school and Statistics
Does anyone else's school require you to take statistics (for BSN) and label the course as a nursing course? I am so fed up with my class right now. I ace all of the hw assignments, but when it comes to the test, I can not achieve past a 75%. I have met with the professor and he says that I am understanding the material, but when it comes to the test, his notes and everything he went over are not on there. Since this course is a nursing course we need to achieve an 85% or higher to pass. CAn help on where I can go to look up info to pass this class???

Sleepless in Nursing School- how do you unwind??
this may sound crazy, but is there a way you can cut back on your hours from work so you have more time for school and sleep? If not, try drinking tea or laying in bed around the time your husband goes to bed so it forces you to fall asleep earlier.

Help with IV infusion rate answer
Here is the question. Please keep in mind this is the first time doing these and I was never given any advice on how to set these problems up The conversion I have volume/time x drop factor (gtt/ml)= IV flow rate Physician ordered 3 grams of zosyn in 250DW5 to infuse at 100mcg/kg/min IVPD. Patient weights 110kg. At what rate in ml/hr will you set infusion device? The answer I keep on getting is 55,000 which is not an answer to choose. So I think I may need help as I do not know how to start this problem.

If i am able to do this, how do i go about filling out the paperwork if i have not graduated from my bsn program as of yet? Thanks for your help!

working related issue
thank you for your comment. Everything was resolved and I will be keeping my job.

working related issue
To to give you a bit of my background, I have been with this company for over 5yrs, and have never had an issue like this before. I always show up to work on time and cover for others when necessary. I am currently in nursing school out of state and my current employer knows this and have never had an issue until today. Issue: I received a call today from said employer stating that if I do not work 32hr by the end of this month I will have to resign. I asked why I needed to work 32 hrs and they stated it was protocol. I said that I was currently at school finishing a nursing fellowship opportunity and that will be home at the end of the month to work. The employer did not care that I was out of state and repeated that if I did not give 32hrs of work that I will resign at the end of the month. To make matters worse, this was not my manager calling me. I called HR to speak with the recruiter that handles all of the CNA issues and she stated that the person that called me should not have called me about this issue and that I should take it up with my manager of my department. I told her (HR) that while in school I currently work on breaks or when I come home and have been doing this for the past two years. She said that this should not be an issue, and for them to change policy without your knowledge is crazy and uncalled for. I left a message for my manager to call me back. This has made me so upset because I love my job and for this to happen today makes me feel like I mean nothing to my employer. What would you do in my situation? I feel threatened and that they are forcing me to quit my job if I do not work the said hours. The person that called me was very unprofessional and did not care what I had to say. To make matters worse, more than ten people that I used to work with have left this department because of the moral and disrespect they have been receiving the past few months.

Any schools in IL that will take a student halfway through BSN program?
I am currently at a nursing school in Indiana and this past semester came home to take a pharm class so I would not pay out of state tuition. Therefore after doing this the school that I took the pharm class from had a different grading scale than my current school. Now my school will not let me come back in to the program because their grading scale is higher than the school I took the pharm class from. Are there any schools in IL that will take a BSN student that is halfway though their nursing career? I was looking to transfer back to Illinois since I am originally from there.

Help with Pharmacology
pharmacology is not easy, trust me I am taking it for a third time (first time I failed, second time our teacher was fired, so here I am a third time). What is best for me is learning the category the medications fall into (ex: hypertensive meds (Ace inhibitors, beta blockers)). and then go from there. When looking for adverse effects, I usually would look for the side effects that were not the same of the other meds. Most meds have the same adverse effects. Good luck, it is not easy, but if you made it this far, you can do it. Try to form a study group and work together with going over all the meds you have learned from the course.

Nursing school is on probation, need to transfer
Thanks for the comments everyone. I am actually looking into a ADN prgram right now in hopes of being able to transfer and get my degree faster (and possibly learning a thing of two). At my current school I feel like I have learned nothing. Plus the schools retention rate is only at a 54% and their NCLEX pass rate I last checked was at a 64% (which I feel is terrible). I want to attend a school where I am learning and do not feel put down all the time by the staff. I understand nursing school is supposed to be hard, trust me, my school is not a cake walk, but I also want to be able to pass the NCLEX after graduating.

Associates after Bachelors
I am currently in a BSN accelerated program right now and I am halfway through the program. I am actually thinking of dropping out of the BSN and going into a ADN to get my degree faster. If all goes well I might only have a semester left of school and be able to take boards, instead of a year left of school and wondering how I am going to afford it.

Nursing school is on probation, need to transfer
I have reached out to some, but most of them had to start over again. They were all in the same boat as me, halfway through the program and now starting from the beginning. I would hate to have to do that as I already have 20,000 in loans and to see that wasted on starting at another school with another 2yrs of loans.

Nursing school is on probation, need to transfer
My school is accredited, but we are on probation for it because of our retention rate for the NCLEX and students not coming back next semester

Nursing school is on probation, need to transfer
Our school does not give us much detail on what is going on. Last semester they raised our minimum pass rate to an 80% without any warning and they are making it more difficult for people to pass the classes. It seems as when I first started the staff cared about our ability to pass, now, they do not care if we fail out. My advisor even told me to look at other programs back at home because this may not work out for me (keep in mind I have passed all of my classes and never had to repeat a nursing course). Within the last two semesters, we have lost at least 30 students because they were unhappy with the program and chose other schools. The problem is they found these schools on their own, no help from the current school I am at.

Chamberlain Nursing school Tinley Park
I have looked into other programs near me, but none of them will take my transfer credit of the nursing courses that I have already completed for my BSN. I have even asked community colleges, and they will not take me due to their program being a bit different than a bachelors level. I am so frusturated with my school that I would rather go somewhere else.

Nursing school is on probation, need to transfer
I currently go to a nursing school in Indiana that is on probation. My home town is in illinois, and I would love to move back to Illinois to finish my BSN degree, but I am having a very difficult time finding a school that will take all of my nursing classes. I currently am half way through my program. Have completed all of the 100's, and 200 level courses. Only have the 300-400 level left. Anyone have to transfer from one school to another (preferably in illinois) and their credits transferred with them? I am looking to transfer before august.

school is on probation and being monitored closely
I am freaking out that my school might lose their accreditation. I am currently in my jr yr as a nursing student and still have a year left. I heard before attending last semester that our school was put on probation because the previous class that took the NCLEX did horrible. Comes to find out that we are also put on probation because the retention rate at our school has dropped significantly due to students dropping out or not passing their classes. A school board member came to talk with the staff and I overheard them saying that we are being taught at a master's degree level and that is why retention rate is dropping (I am studying for a bachelors in nursing, not masters). To make matters worse, we ended up firing a professor at the school for sexual harassment. Is there anything I can do, will another school take me this late into my program? I would hate to do all of this work to find out that in the end my degree is worth nothing and I will not be able to get a job afterall.

Lakeview College of Nursing Danville, IL looking for a classmate
I have a friend that goes to school there and I happened to ask her the other day after reading your post. She said the person is no longer there. She did not say why or when this person left, but that this person no longer attends.

Chamberlain Nursing school Tinley Park
I am currently attending another nursing school and have completed the 100's and 200's level courses. I am unhappy with my school and looking to transfer to chamberlain in Tinley Park. Has anyone ever transferred to this school from another nursing school? Will they accept transfer credit? If you are currrently in the program, do you like the courses and the clinicals, would you recommend this school?

Chamberlain Chicago Fall 2014 acceptance
I am thinking of tansferring here from another nursing school. It stated on their website that transfer credits are on an individual basis. Does anyone know if they will accept them? I have completed all 100 level and 200 level courses.
