My floor is a respiratory step down unit, with patients on ventilators, bipaps, tele etc. We have 1:4 unless we're short a nurse then maybe a couple nurses may have to have 5 patients.

I would drop them off to HR and managers, just whoever was available at the time. I got a job at Southern Regional in PACU, it's not an actual new grad residency but they do extra training for new grads and require you sign a contract. I didn't take that position because I was offered something else that worked better for me and my family.

Just apply everywhere!! I spent hours every day submitting applications online. I also spent days going around dropping off my resume too.

I actually have the same problem!! Yesterday I was offered two amazing jobs. The first one was PACU at a local hospital, good benefits, 9am-9pm, call required, pay 21.43 (I'm a new grad). The second one is for a wound care nurse at a local nursing home, good benefits (same as hospital), day shift 8 hr days, can work 4 or 5 days a week, pay 30.00. I'm going with the wound care position, I'll be dealing with wound vacs and complicated wounds so I will get experience. And also there's an $8 difference between the two jobs!! I have a family with a young son so I think the shorter days would work best with him. When I worked twelve hour shifts in the past, it was rough in him. I made a list of pros and cons for the two and the nursing home position was, by far, better for me and my life. Good luck!!

Hi, I have been struggling to find a job in the Atlanta Metro area. I'm a new grad (Dec '13) and moved here a month ago. I've applied for so many jobs and have only had 3 interviews. It seems almost every job requires experience. Does anyone have any advice? Or is anyone else having similar problems? I just want to get experience!!

Yes I've heard it can be very long too! I was really surprised to get mine already! Just make sure you have absolutely everything needed so it'll be processed fast :)

I received my GA license yesterday!! Yay!! Only 3 weeks after they started processing it :)

I also used AL verification online and then just included the sealed envelope that I received in with my packet.

You can get fingerprinted where you live and just send it in to the OH cogentid address, that's what I did, the verification # is 922931Z, the ORI # is GA922931Z, I'd send in your BSN and MSN transcripts. :)

It says no pending apps are found how long did it take before yours was showing up on there? I mailed it a week ago.

I mailed my app today so I'm hoping it's very soon that I get my license!! Where I'm at in AL there are so many nursing schools and just a couple hospitals so it is very hard to find a job. I'm working in a nursing home right now, it's not my dream job but at least I'm getting experience!! As soon as I get my GA license I'll start applying in Atlanta, I can't wait!!

Also the way AL did my verification of my license is they mailed me an official letter that is unofficial if opened, so I didn't mail that form that was a part of the application to AL BON. I'm just going to include the unopened letter...do you think that'll be a problem?

Yeah I'm a new grad too, I've just been working for a couple months! Hopefully you'll get the job!! I haven't applied for anything yet, do you think I should wait until I have my license or should I go ahead and start applying and tell them that they're processing it??

I think I'd like to work at Piedmont Henry, that would be close to where I'm going to live. What about you?

Thank you!! AL doesn't participate in nursys so I have the official notification from them to send to GA. I'm getting my fingerprints today so hopefully I'll be sending my app in soon!! Do I have to wait for anything after getting my fingerprints? Or can I go ahead and send the app in right away?

I am in the process of gathering everything I need to transfer my AL RN license to GA. Listed as one of the things to include with the application is Proof of graduation from an approved nursing education program within four (4) years immediately preceding the date of application On my official transcripts it states that I graduated from my nursing program at my college, but I was wondering if this is sufficient and if not what kind of proof are they looking for exactly? Thanks so much for any help!!
