California School of Health Sciences offer a lot of classes for health care professionals. This school is well known and a lot of nurses go here. They have 2 locations: garden grove and LA. I went there for my advanced EKG and critical care classes. I highly recommend them. Try this link http://cshs.edu/index.php?module=courses&id=4357b2d6716f40d698def1837e3fe02e

LAC+USC interview new grad RN
Khennely14, i'm not sure if they're still hiring new grads in ICU.. Positions open up depending on need and budget. Just keep on inquiring about RN I positions. An alternative is to start in med-surg or telemetry unit then transfer to ICU. About your other question, i think they were talking about start dates for those who got hired. There are 2 start dates in a month, either the 1st week or 3rd week. So for 2011, there are only 3 start dates left.. nov 1, 15 and dec 1 (correct me if i'm wrong about the dates)..

I'm a new grad like you and got hired in CT-ICU. You can apply to any RN I positions.

Hey khennely14! I haven't heard of anyone not passing the initial interview. And yes, the letter about the interview will take about a month. Keep your hopes up!

Hey J062282! I applied soon as i got my license. I believe you need to be licensed before you can apply (if not, you may get a letter of rejection..that's what happened to my friend) Also, they'll ask for your license during the initial interview, they will photocopy it for their files.

I'm excited to meet you volunteer pioneer! :yeah: We're in the same situation, graduated last yr of december and I'm not working too. I turned down a per diem position because it starts this October. I didn't want a conflict in schedule with county because I thought I would start October. I kind of feel rusty in terms of my skills so I feel nervous too. But thank god we're starting in med-surg first before we go up to train for ICU then train again for CT-ICU!

I'm sorry you weren't chosen. When I interviewed for ICU, the nurse managers asked me which unit i want and why. After giving my answer, they said, "Good! That's what we're looking for.." I chose burn as my second choice and they told me that unit is not hiring at all.

LAC+USC interview new grad RN
Mine was a week... I went to HR for background check on aug 1, then got an e-mail about my health screening on aug. 8. Someone from HR will call you to make sure that you did receive the e-mail. However, my health screening was scheduled on aug 23.. So that was a long wait. I went back to county hosp. on aug 26 to get my health clearance. Then, I submitted it to the nurse recruiter. For your health screening, don't forget to bring a copy of your MMR and hep B titers, TB skin test result, and CXR result w/in a year (if positive skin test) for TB clearance. Bringing these items with you will speed things up. Hope this info will help...

WOW! I feel somewhat relieved to know that there are other people waiting for a start date.... I interviewed for ICU on July 27 and got a job offer the following day in CT-ICU.... I completed my health screening on Aug. 26 and have been waiting since for a start date.... I have been soooo worried the past 2 weeks, wondering why they haven't given me a start date.... I called them last Friday and they told me, "just hang in there".. they're waiting for some paper work to be approved... I really want to start soon..... Hope I get to meet you soon, volunteer pioneer and others who got a job offer....

Cedars-Sinai RN New Grad 2011
I totally agree with dienne and murse2244 that they are done with the selection process. After my friend from HR called me, I was in the denial and anger stages.. I've already cried out last weekend about not being chosen for the new grad program.. Maybe by some miracle, someone fails to pass the background check, and I get chosen as a replacement! Who knows?? What matters is that we continue to look for other opportunities whever they may be...

Cedars-Sinai RN New Grad 2011
I'm 110% sure willowlove. My friend called me early morning Friday to tell me that me and my other friends are not on the list. I already knew there were 80 ppl chosen even before someone posted it in here. I was hoping that she read the wrong list.. But when someone posted here that she/he spoke to HR and was told about the 80, well then, it confirmed that they already had the list completed since last Friday and that I'm not on it..

Actually, they are done with the selection process. My friend, who works in HR, already saw the list of 80 last Friday. All that they're doing right now is dividing the 80 into 3 cohorts. That's why each cohort has 25-30.

I think they'll send out the rejection emails after calling the 80 because if someone turns down the job offer, then they can still choose from the rest of the applicants..

Cedars-Sinai RN New Grad 2011
The interview-application process was much more organized early this year. It's just misleading to send out an e-mail to fill out the online application to all those who were interviewed. Then, have the FINAL list of 80 ready a day after. I don't know why it is taking them sooooo long to call up those 80 chosen applicants when they have had the list since last week.
