I just realized nursing is my dream job
Thank you so much, this certainly clears up a lot. I will be going to school full time, as for the Financial Aid, I need to apply to all that stuff, I'm thinking of attending Miami Dade Community College down here so I hope the advisers can help me in all I need. I have a long journey ahead, I am just now starting from scratch. I have about 12 prereqs to finish and a few extra classes that I have been looking into like Medical Terminology, Nutrition and Getting certified in CPR etc... As for my calling, I have always wanted to be a Pediatric Doctor, but unfortunately the road of life took me on a different path at a young age, so now that I finally have a chance to get my dreams somewhat accomplished 2 kids later I considered taking Nursing which is as close as I'll get to my original dream. I want to end up on an L&D floor or a Pediatric Unit. Lets see right now my main focus is starting and getting thru all my prereqs and making sure I get accepted into a Nursing School. Wish me Luck!! **FINGERS CROSSED** AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

Questions about starting nusing,& Prerequisites... Please HELP!!
OMG Thank you both, this helps a lot really, I was going crazy not having anyone to ask about this prereqs and all... Question: Can I pick the amount of classes I take per semester? Also NO I have not taken any College classes at all I will be starting from scratch so I'm afraid it will be well over a year before I can think of applying to any nursing schools... I'm a bit nervous about the TEAS but with studying I'm sure I will be fine... Any studying tips you can recommend? it has been 8 years since I have done any schooling.... I get nervous just knowing I'm gonna learn new things but that life... I'm afraid of the work load as well as the level of difficulty in the work. and all those big Words scare me! I am prepared to have a dictionary at hand 25/8 LOL. I am going to a few colleges this week to see where I'm gonna start. Also, do you know how much the prerequisite classes cost? Ball park? I know that's aside from Nursing school... The whole GPA thing scares the bejesus out of me! Good luck to both of you on your Journey!! LynneMarie: **FINGERS CROSSED FOR YOU**

Miami-Dade College-Classes Full??
ZeppHead8: I want to thank you so much for taking the time to explain this all to me... I am very new at this so It will take me sometime to get accustomed to this prerequisites and Nursing... I don't have a learning style yet its been 8 years since I last was in school. I guess I will learn as I go and see what works for me. The TEAS test is something you take after the pre reqs or during? will it contain the subjects I learn in the prerequisites course? When is the best time to take it? Your saying it will take me at least 2 years to do the prerequisites alone and then study for nursing program correct? As for the classes I am being offered the opportunity to stop working and attend school full time so I'm going to take advantage of it. I'm more of an hands on kind of person. My biggest fear is the big words and all the new text. I'm gonna have to be living by a dictionary at all times!! LOL sad but true. I have an appointment with a few colleges this week so Keeping my fingers crossed I can get this started asap. Thanks again for all your help!!

Questions about starting nusing,& Prerequisites... Please HELP!!
Good Morning everyone, I have been reading all your post and I'm so happy to have found a community that I can relate to and that I can ask questions about my nursing career. I am just now looking into the prerequisites for nursing to start my nursing career eventually... I have learned so much, although I have a few questions maybe you guys can help me out... The prerequisite courses are taken in full time classes? How long does it take to finish all the classes before I can apply for the nursing program? Are the classes hard? I'm not worried about the work load just the work it self. I have a 8 year gap since I left highschool I just now went back and got my GED and I'm looking forward to accomplish my career in nursing so I'm a bit nervous as to what to expect... Any book recommendations for studying... I believe its called the TEAS exam after all the courses right? I would really appreciate any help from you guys... I don't know what the first thing to do is... I'm considering Miami Dade College as the school of my choice... Any suggestions? Also, are there study groups that can help or is alone studying better? what are the hours of the prerequisite classes? is there a part-time class available? When do you know what type of nurse you want to be? ER/OBGYN/OR??? when do you choose?? I'm not sure what questions to ask but if you guys can throw some in even if i didn't ask them but you think it might help I would greatly appreciate it!! You guys help each other out so much!! Thanks again in advance!! Mary Future
