Thanks so much rr82080! You described what I am going thru to a T! Can't wait to have that realization someday! I will keep my head up :) ... I may need to come back and read this thread from time to time, but I will do my best to stay positive.

I really applied for everything accepting nurses with

HeartNIC, Thank you for sharing your story - really does help :) I have been thinking that something in Women's Services or the NICU might be what clicks for me too, and tried everything I knew to get into the specialty.

It's not been so easy getting a job at all, much less one in the specialty I think might click for me... So, I took this opportunity in order to get experience and start learning... I know I need to give it some time... I guess maybe I am only seeking some words of encouragement or support or something like that ...

So, my hx is this: I graduated in May 2010. Started working at a Pediatric Burn Specialty Hospital in September 2010. And quit there in January 2011... Due to my experience (or lack thereof) I did not get another job until recently. This week will be my 3rd week working on the floor in a Pediatric IMU or CSC (Children's Specialty Unit) which are all names for a Pediatric step-down unit. I'm just not feeling nursing anymore... I don't know if it's only because I am SO stressed out with all the struggles of being a new nurse, or maybe it's just the hospital setting, or maybe it's the specialties I have been trying... or something else. I stress at work, and then stress about work when I am home. I just don't know what to do... I put so much time and hard-work into becoming an RN, it seems crazy to decide it's not for me now. And something else about me - I hate failure and I also hate this stress... How do I know if nursing just isn't for me?

I just started my job & it is about a 60-90 minute drive. So far, I start off listening to the radio to the people talking bout funny stuff & listening for any traffic concerns... AND one of the stations plays "the morning song" it is really upbeat and wakes me up - so when it comes on I start singing and dancing :dncgbby:

So... I didn't realize how long it had been since this process started until I looked at this post... about a month & a half!!! And I finally received my.... JOB OFFER! I will be working in the Pediatric IMU on DAYS! I start September 23rd! I am really excited! Thanks for all your advice and support!

Congrats!!! I agree with the red flag to a high turnover thing for sure... Which specialty interests you more? I also agree that #2 would more than likely be flexible with the 8 weeks, but could you ask anybody to be sure?

Sorry I'm SO late! lol But yes there was a peer interview although the nurses said that it was more for me - to ask questions, any concerns and so on. SO... I think it went really well! :yeah:Thanks so much for everybody's support! I hope to know something for sure sooner than later (of course) I REALLY love the hospital and staff! I was so excited and felt so "in my place" there :loveya: It would be a night's position, which I have never done before but totally ok with....will be needing advice for the change if I get the job Sent my thank-yous ... now just waiting for a call :)

I FINALLY have an interview! It's tomorrow so I am trying to get everything ready today... I'm just not sure what to take??? Is it appropriate to take a resume with a cover letter to the interview? And a recommendation letter? Even if you have already attached everything to your online application?... I ask because my cover letter says something to the effect of "I would value discussing employment with you and would be able to meet with you at your convenience. Thank you for your time and consideration." .... I am already meeting with everybody. Also if I should take these papers, do I take a set for everyone - the director, and each manager? This is a really important interview and just want to be completely prepared Thanks SO much for any advice... ANY advice you may have for me! :heartbeat Ps. what about thank you notes... Do I send these to HR with the appropriate director and managers' names? Or how do I address these to ensure they get to the right people?

i love this! i am kinda new to an... so i haven't really read enough to "see" anyone yet.

I do not have children yet. Someday I will have the personal experience :) Actually, I am a new nurse and do not currently have a job. I was hoping to get some certifications while I am looking for a job and have no job, that would hopefully help me to get a job... I'm not familiar with some of the abbreviations used: "LLL" "IBCLC" So, should I wait to get some of these certifications until I have been working?
