How old were you when you started Nursing School?
I was/am 37 years old, married with two children ages 11 and 8. I'm currently the oldest student in my cohort.

How many times have you applied?
I have been in the same position as you and I totally understand. I applied a few years in a row with the same results. My GPA was really good, but just not competitive enough. I just got accepted at George Fox University. I had some B's with my science/bio classes. You do have to have a year of chemistry and public speaking to apply, as well as taking the TEAS test. But, it might be worth a shot! Hang in there! You will get in somewhere!

Please Help: Chaminade University of Honolulu
:) Congrats to you as well! Thank you for the information! My children are 9 & 6. They'll be in the 4th and 1st grade by then. I did get my schedule. However, I called and left a message because I had a few questions and concerns. One of them being a class from 3:30 to almost 6pm and some classes that I'm taking now that are on my schedule.

Please Help: Chaminade University of Honolulu
I too have been accepted into the program. I have the same concerns as well. But, I'm just going to go for it! I feel it'll be a great opportunity and experience! I'll also be a transfer student from Oregon. I'll have to relocate with my two children. Does anyone know how I can best find a place that would be suitable for myself and them before our arrival? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Is there anyone else feeling really frustrated?
I already live in a rural area. I am concerned with how long it will take. I also know that my financial aid won't pay for me to take a class again just to get an "A". I have been looking into Washington, Nevada, Montana, California and maybe Hawaii. However, I do have young children and own a home so it makes it really hard for me to relocate. If I was accepted in a different state I would really have to consider the location :)

My husband can get a job in Honolulu with a company that he used to work for in Oregon. My children are 5 and 8. It has been really hard trying to get into a college here in Oregon with a GPA that's less than a 4.0. I don't have a GPA below 3.5 though. I have completed all of my pre-reqs and even additional coursework. This will be the second year that I have applied in Oregon and haven't been accepted into a program yet.

Is there anyone else feeling really frustrated?
I'm just wondering if there are other students that are feeling a little frustrated in applying for nursing programs such as I. I am an older student in my 30's with children and a lot of volunteer experience in hospitals. My GPA isn't a perfect 4.0, but it isn't under a 3.5. I haven't been able to get into any programs in Oregon the last few years. I really don't want to take any classes over again just because. I've already completed all pre-reqs and then some. Now, I'm really looking into going to colleges out of state even if it means my family comes with me or not. Is there anyone else in a similar situation?

I was just accepted to HPU for either their nursing or pre-nursing program to finish a few pre-reqs before starting the nursing program. Does anyone know how this works or have any recommendations or experience? I want to make sure that I am making the correct decision before I move to Hawaii with my children. Thank you! Kendra
