Lamar State College LVN to RN
I am from the area that this school(lamar state college-port arthur) is located in. They are a typical community college that has a Lvn and lvn-rn program. The program that you guys are interested in, is online and for students that do not live near the school(I believe 100miles or so). So the college's programs that they have been offering for several yrs are accredited and the Lamar state college-orange(the one I went to)is a highly respected college in my area. So with this program that you guys are interested in, only being a yr old, is with a school that has an accredited program the have taught locally for quite some time and I would recommend the college d/t personal affiliation with students who have graduated locally.

Help! Undecided about returning to excelsior
I am currently in this same position of being undecided. I am a single mom of 2 and desire to obtain my RN but need distance learning to accomplish this. There are local colleges in my area that offer this but are a little more traditional and will take longer to complete. I have heard and read many reviews. The one that has me the most hesistant is that TX board of nursing is going to review Excelsior later this year to decide if they will still approve it. I am about to do some research to see if I can find this to be true.

Im and LPN who wants to become an RN! Whats the deal with Excelsior???
you can take some of the nursing exams without being enrolled. i can't remember right at the moment which ones they are but wouldn't mind looking if needed. of all the research i've done on ec and how to study: i have gathered saunders comprehensive nclex review, studygroup101, and the 2 practice exams(taking one before you start to study and on the week of your exam). if you come across some other studying tatics please fill me in. i plan to apply and send off my transcript next week now that my summer is calming down a bit. my email is [email protected] lets keep in touch and tackle this marathon! also on an earlier post i believe the wait times are an estimate of 5-7 months but you can but put on a list for when there are cancelations. good luck on your journey to becoming a rn

Texas LVN-RN Online
Lamar University in Beaumont, TX has a LVN to ADN program(don't know if it's offered online too). Lamar State College-Orange does as well but they have an online class that can be applied for in March. The only problem is they only accept a certain number of students. I am not sure about Lamar State College-Port Arthur having an online option. I attended LSC-O for my LVN and absolutely LOVE it but due to another child I am having a problem completing pre-reqs to apply hence my interest in Excelsior.
