If you have taken classes at HCC, then taking the English Composition and Sociology CLEP's directly at HCC are your best bet. They will post sooner to your transcript. But I would hurry up and schedule the dates to take the CLEP's as soon as possible. You can take both on the same day. Neither one is hard. Buy the CLEP Sociology book from Amazon and use it exclusively to study. You don't need additional material. I think each CLEP is $82 at HCC.

You can take CLEP's for English and Sociology both. You don't need to take a minimester class at all. I wouldn't waste my time with Lonestar because they are not known for getting transcripts to UT in a timely manner.

Congratulations to all that have been accepted so far!!!! If you haven't heard anything yet, don't give up. We had people getting acceptance emails during the first week of classes (people from the wait list). I was one of the last people in my class to find out that I got in. They did ours according to last name and I'm a W. People started getting accepted on Tuesday so when Friday came around and I still hadn't heard anything, I assumed that I didn't get in. I went to bed that night heartbroken. The next day, out of habit, I checked my online account with UT when I turned on my computer. I had been accepted. Stay strong, believe in yourself and know that if it is meant to be, it will happen.

Don't lose hope guys !!! People were pulled off the wait list up until the first week of class for Spring 2012. I know of at least 10 people that got in that were on the wait list. Work on getting your "holds" removed, so if you do get called, you can start right away.

Might I suggest that you name your Facebook group UTHSC SON Class of December 2013 ? We all have our groups named after our class:)

Unfortunately, since you have lived out of Texas for the past two years, it looks like they will charge you out-of-state tuition. The person in our class had lived IN STATE for 11 months prior to the start of school and they still made her pay out-of-state tuition for one semester until her total In State residence equaled one full year. She asked to defer her acceptance for a semester b/c the tuition was so expensive, but the school said NO.

If you already live in Texas and have lived in Texas for over 1 year, then it should be pretty immediate. If you HAVE NOT lived in Texas for AT LEAST one full year, then you are going to be stuck paying out-of-state tuition for at least one semester or until you HAVE lived in Texas for at least one full year. Wow, that was a lot!! Do I sound like I work at the Registrar's office? lol Someone in our class actually HAD this problem:(

Hi Guys, You might remember me from the Spring 2012 thread. I'm here to tell you, KEEP THE FAITH!!! All of you have wonderful stats. We are switching over to a new computer system (from UTLINK to MyUTH) and it's a nightmare for the registars office. They keep taking it offline to fix glitches, but......... So, in the meantime you can be thankful for the wonderful support system you have here with all of your AN buddies (soon to be UT buddies:).

Don't you remember last semester when we applied that EVERYONE had the same two holds? It was only when the holds increased that it meant they were accepted. I believe we all started with CPR and one other hold as standard but they added, drug screen, background check, final transcript, immunizations and you have to send them $50 so they won't give your spot away. It's normal to be stressed.

MyUTH was down for several days last week. Just keep checking and calling. Make sure to join the Facebook group. Me and the other current students have tons of info for you that we have posted to Facebook. Search for UTHSC SON Bacc2 Class of 2013

Hi Guys,I'm SO excited that y'all are finding out that you got accepted. I remember being in your shoes. It was a painful process, but really worth it. Some of you may have read the previous thread from the Spring 2012 start date that was started by me. It's full of good advice!!Someone needs to start a Facebook group called UTHSC SON Class of December 2013 as soon as possible. The current students have TONS of information for you regarding everything from parking to books to student life and beyond. We are here to help:)It took about a full week for all of the acceptances to go out last semester, so don't fret if you haven't heard anything yet. The entire MyUTH system was down for two days last week. We also had wait listed people that didn't find out until the weekend before school started. Congratulations and we can't wait to meet all of you!Ps. DO NOT BUY all of the books on the "required" list until you asked someone if they actually used it.

Is your friend in the AP BSN program in Houston? If so, what hospital?

When I found out that it was unlikely that I would get in at UTA, I started making a back-up plan. I fell hook, line and sinker for everything UTA told me about the AP BSN program. It was only after I was deep into my prerequisites that I found out the lack of clinical sites in Houston. I took Nutrition in addition to everything else so that I could apply and be more competitive at UTHSC. I am SO glad that I did. Keep your head up. I'm not partnered and I got accepted:)

When I first applied, my "salesperson" told me that Tx Children's was a partner hospital in Houston and totally sold me on the online aspect of the program. I was never told that I needed to work for a hospital, ever. If you're on the wait list for Houston then there will be a spot opening up because I'm going to decline my acceptance and go with UT Houston.

If there are any other people that were accepted that live in Houston, please feel free to chime in at any time. We need and want all the info you have:)

I'm leaning heavily towards UT Health Science Center just based on the horror stories of people that are already in the program in Houston. But I would be happy to meet/talk to you about all of it. UTHSC is my dream school so it would be really hard to turn them down. Plus they are the highest ranked nursing program in Texas. I'm not partnered, so I was very surprised that I got accepted to UTA also. The program at UT Houston starts Jan 2012 and we graduate in early May 2013, so the programs are the exact same length, but UT Houston does graduate a couple of weeks ahead of UTA.

@lena22, I have a 3.5 science gpa. I took all of my sciences at UTA. I had a 4.0 until Chemistry killed me:( My regular gpa is 3.73. I also got accepted at UT Health Science Center in Houston. I'm not sure where I'm going just yet. I'm staying in Houston no matter which school I choose.

I got accepted to the AP BSN program. Not partnered.

I was told by a former UTHSC student that the admissions committee looks at the CT section closely. It's broken down into five sections and you are scored on each section then the average of those scores is what your CT score is reported as. This same person commented that she was accepted because she scored very high in the "moral/ethical" section of the CT portion of the Hesi. After she was admitted, she talked with an advisor and was told "we can teach you how to take care of patients, we can't teach you right from wrong at this point in your life".

I am visual/analytical and creative/people. I have no idea if that played a part in me getting in or not. I do know that I've worked myself to death trying to get into nursing school, just as many of you have. I took 43 hours in 12 months and maintained a 3.75 GPA. I made a C in Chemistry which brought my 4.0 down to a 3.75. I wasn't too happy about that. All of my pre-req classes are recent except for 5 liberal arts classes that I took 20yrs ago when I first attended college. I'm also taking a full load this semester (Statistics, Nutrition, Dev. Psych, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology). I've already finished Stats and Nutrition. The only pre-req I had left for UTHSC was/is Dev. Psych which ends in December. I'm taking patho and pharm for another school that I applied to. I'm staying in those classes because I have good grades in both classes, I've already paid for them and it's good experience for me even though they will not transfer to UTHSC. I was 21 hours away from graduating from UT Arlington when I got accepted at UT Houston.

Any word yet?
