  1. sorry!!!! i been having a hardtime getting on here lately! but I was accepted too yayy! What do you think is gonna happen at survival camp on the 13?
  2. yaaayyyy!!!! super excited. good luck!
  3. I know right! I wanted to meet u, but i was too afraid to say anything lol, so i just wondered who u were... lol. Do u know when were gonna find out if we got accepted?
  4. Me too! See you there! #teamlvn2012! Whoop Whoop! lol
  5. I hope I meet you there, we need to make friends so we can study together once we get in! I got kids girl, i cant fail! I gotta get it!
  6. Mrs ******* said theres gonna be nine people interviewing us... not like nine people all interviewing one person at a time like an interragation lol, but nine different people each interviewing one seperate person at a time. we will only have to interview with one person. (i think) Dont be nervous! Just pray! Youll do fine! :-)
  7. Thanks so much for replying! It doesnt OFFICIALLY mean we got in (but) 9 times out of ten we did. this girl im taking a class with is an lvn and went to hcc... she said once u meet all the criteria (which we did ) they pretty much base acceptance on how much they like u at your interview... and one of the counselors there told me they dont interview everyone who applies. so be optimistic! :-) u can go to an old job or high school and get letters from a former co-worker or teacher....
  8. I just recieved my letter to interview with houston community colleges lvn program... I'll have to bring some documents to the interview but im not quite sure exactly what theyre asking of me to do about one of the documents theyre requesting... the part im confused about reads as follows::: Write a 2-3 page typed narrative summary based on an interview with an lvn who is currently practicing nursing in the state of texas.... WHAT DOES THIS MEAN????????? What EXACTLY is the paper supposed to be about. someone please help. my interview is quickly approaching and i just need a little clarity on the topic im expected to write about, i dont know if im over thinking it or maybe they left out something or misworded something... PLEASE REPLY! THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!
  9. Anyone have a shot at nursing before and failed out the program? What would you do differently if you could go back? What do you think your mistakes were? Not studying enough? Not paying enough attention? Distractions? Organization?.. Or even if you know someone who failed, what did they say their mistakes were? Alot of us will be starting our programs next month and before we enter, I think itll be good to hear from others who have already experienced this what to do and what not to do.
  10. Thanks alot! I can already tell that I will be very drained. Im only 2 months into my pregnancy and im already exhausted. Terrible headaches. And I feel a mess. (not to mention this Texas heat is ridiculous!!!!) But im still very determined to finish. I love love love hearing stories from women like yourself that relate to mine because it gives me even more motivation knowing that youve been where im at and you made it through. Im so afraid of letting my children down and hearing you was inspiring. Thank you so much. Please keep me in your prayers.
  11. Thats so good to hear! Was she able to make all of the clinical days while she was pregnant? Did they treat her any differently? Was this LVN?RN? How was your schedule? I mean like how did a week go for you guys? Sorry if im asking too much.. these are just a few things im concerned about?
  12. Youre right! I dont know if they allow you to defer for a semester when things like this happen and pick up where you left off at the school im going to but ill definitely look into it. Im kind of on a time frame. I wanna graduate by 2013! But maybe God wants something different for me! Only time will tell.... Thank you so much!
  13. Ill be finding out whether or not I was accepted into my schools nursing program next month(which im pretty sure ill be accepted) but I just found out that im pregnant. Im no more than a few weeks im sure and already have a one year old. By the time this baby is born, my one year old will be 2. I have lots of drive and determination. I believe strongly in God and know with prayer and faith he will take care of everything. But im still a bit worried. Is there anyone out there who has experienced this and was successful? Im not looking for a bunch of discouragment. I already know that this will be hard. Im simply looking for some guidance and if anyone feels they can be helpful im definitely willing to listen. I live by myself with my son. I moved to the city im in now because they have a better nursing program. The father of my children lives and hour and a half away. I have no family here to help. But I do have an awesome group of friends who are very supportive and more than willing to do what they can to help. The only thing that Im really worried about is whats going to happen after I have my child. Its due in March and I can NOT miss more than 2 clinical days. I had a C-section with my first child and my doctor told me this one will be a C-section as well. I can schedule to be induced during spring break but afterwards????? I dont really know. I can have a family member come and stay with me until the babys 6 weeks and is able to go to daycare I guess. Do you feel that this can be done? Any suggestions? Any personal experiences?
  14. Thanks alot. Your insight was very helpful. I just wrote something so please please please tell me what you think! your HONEST opinion... Does it SUCK... Could i use a little work? Or am I going in the right direction??????? I honestly cant see myself doing anything besides being a nurse. I've heard lots of other students say this but then fail to give 110% in class, while studying and on exams. They get distracted and give up. I had a kid at 18.. and left my mothers home when he was only 2 months old to move to another town over 100 miles away to pursue my career in nursing because they offer a great program. This was a very defining moment in my life and I decided that I was going to give my all or give nothing at all. I believe Gods purpose when he created me was for me to be one of those shining stars who can brighten up the day of even the most weary person. Hes blessed me with an awesome spirit. Ive volunteered at a Christian preschool, homeless shelter, ASPCA, but neither of them gave me a more fulfilling feeling than when I began volunteering in the ER at a hospital. I couldnt do too much "hands-on" stuff at all, but just the interactions with different patients and the staff was enough for me. Sometimes I had patients who were so miserable they didnt even feel like explaining what their issues were. Other times I had patients who were so long-winded that I had a hard time finishing their vitals in a timely manner because they wouldnt listen. I've had patients who were mean, mad, and offensive with a mouth like a sailor. But 9 times out of 10 I could tweek a little change in their attitudes eventually. (AND THIS IS WHERE IM STUCK AT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) (I FEEL LIKE IM KIND OF JUST BABBLING NOW) WHAT DO YOU THINK:up: or
  15. Okay, im applying for nursing and the application is due in two weeks. I thought I had everything completed until I went over it and seen in VERY SMALL PRINT that we have to do a brief essay. Im kind of panicing because I know this essay can either make or break me> It says something like what are your goals in Nursing? Why do you want to persue nursing as a career? Of course I know the answer to all these questions but I sometimes crack under pressure. I wrote something down on scratch paper but it was wayyy too long. I dont know how to sum it up. SOMEONE HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What would you say? 5 to 6 sentences. Any suggestion?????????????
