Nashville State Community College
Jellybean01: I was wondering how orientation went. I decided to attend Aquinas, so I just emailed the nursing dept about withdrawing my application at nscc. It was a tough decission for sure. Don't be intimidated by the age groups you are lucky to have started at a young age, I wish I started earlier. Well, good luck in your program!

Aquinas College/ HESI
Yankeesfan55: good luck on the hesi test. After the test they will probably ask you to write an essay and then email it to them, it is a pretty easy topic. Hope u get accepted in the spring. I start in the fall and I am excited to begin. If u have any questions let me know.

willmo81- Congrats on your acceptance! Have you heard good things about their program?

Nashville State Community College
Nashville State Community College is in the process of their accreditation. The program is still new and a specific % the graduating class need to pass their boards as part of the accreditation process.

Nashville State Community College
That's what I have been hearing too. I work for a Chiropractor and we have several patients that are RN's and I have been asking about the importance of graduating from an accredited school. They have been telling me that it doesn't really matter what school you graduate from but whether or not you pass your boards. That makes me feel a little better, but I still haven't decided whether Aquinas or NSCC is the school for me. What if I want to further my education and get my BSN, would they accept me if I didn't get my ASN from an accredited school. Although, I would hate to graduate with a huge school debt. Plus, I really like NSCC and their professors are great!

kay2010: You will like the NSCC main campus, it is nice and not too big. They new A bldg is pretty nice, and it was in major need b/c they were running out of room for classes.

jellybean01: Congrats to you too! What schedule were you told?

Nashville State Community College
harris88: You are absolutely correct, this is a huge decision and I don't want to regret the path I choose. I have been doing some research on Aquinas and I have been seeing some bad reviews. That kind of freaks me out! There is not much posted on NSCC right now because it is still such a new program. I honestly really like NSCC and the price is right, but when and will they be accredited is the question. I was told that NSCC has classes 2 days per week, were you told 3 days per week?I thought it was MW or TR, were you told different? The reason I ask, I have a part-time job and I'm not sure about my schedule if it is 3 times per week.

harris88: I too was accepted by Aquinas and NSCC, but it has been really tough for me to make a decision. The accreditation situation with NSCC is making me think twice about attending school there.

Aquinas Nursing Program
Has anyone heard from the Aquinas waiting list, yet?
-
Aquinas Nursing Program
Willmo81: I was put on the waiting list too. I was also wondering about what it meant for be being put on the waiting list. The letter said after May 24th we would know more about the wait list acceptance. I wonder what the % is of students they take from the wait list? Does anyone have information on the wait list process?

I know waiting sucks. Not sure if they are still interviewing people.

Nashville State Community College
M2004rc: My GPA is 3.0. How did you do in Micro & AP I/II? Do you think you did well on the interview?
-
Nashville State Community College
m2004rc, do you have someone to check your mail? If you get accepted you can always call the nursing director and ask if she can hold that spot for you because you are out of town. I am sure she will understand. If there is anything I can do with you please let me know. And don't be discouraged, it will work out for you :)

I heard some bad stuff about TSU especially their nursing program. I heard something about them losing their accreditation. Do you have any other pre-req classes to complete? You can always that those pre-req classes at Nashville State, which by the way they have some good professors. You can also apply to NSCC ASN program, or try Belmont or Columbia.

I have heard a lot of really bad things about TSU and especially their nursing program. I heard they are going to lose their nursing accreditation. I'm sorry to hear you were affected by their incompetence. If you have any other pre-req classes NSCC has some great professors. I just completed my AP II class with Dr. ******* and he really did care about our success. With him it wasn't about memorizing they systems, but understanding application. It was a challenging class, but it was good class. They also have an ASN program that you can apply to in the spring. You can also try Belmont University or Columbia.

Aquinas College/ HESI
I was told that they got approx. 200 applications this semester and they only enrolled 85 students. So, I also hope that I get accepted..."fingers crossed." I was going to take those classes this summer, but since I was not accepted yet I am probably going to hold off. Its good that you got one of the classes out of the way. Are you going to be applying at any other schools?

Aquinas College/ HESI
Unfortunately, I was put on the waiting list for Fall 2011. I was totally bummed, but they indicated that after May 24th some of the students on the waiting list will be accepted. Sucks that I didn't get picked initially and I got B's on all my pre-req classes and I got a 86% on the HESI exam.

I took the Hesi test in April at Aquinas and it wasn't too bad. The math portion was primarily conversions and ratios. You have to pass with at least a 75%, I'm sure you will do fine. It really helped to study the Hesi exam book, which you can order on Amazon. Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Exam Review HESI Good luck!
