Struggling with a nursing diagnosis/care plan for TKA
You are probably done by now, but in case anyone reads this in the future your goal needs to be measurable. You should define a parameter for "adequate perfusion" and there needs to be a specific time frame also. Good luck!

What have clinicals/nursing school taught you about yourself?
I have learned how to appear confident even when I'm not. This has actually increased my level of confidence and I find confidence goes a long way with clinical instructors. Of course I'm not talking cocky or over-confident, just the ability to portray confidence in myself and my abilities even when I'm nervous as all get out!!! "Fake it until you make it"

CCHS/Concord Spring 2012 admissions
I am sorry that you didn't get accepted. Did they offer you a spot in the Pre-Nursing or Pre-Professional program? I heard that this semester they placed more emphasis on an applicant's standardized test scores. There were a lot of people that took/retook the ACT to boost their score. The average score of those that were accepted seemed to be around 23. I never heard anyone really talk about SAT scores. CCHS offers the ACT at the school several times a semester - maybe taking that would improve your chances of acceptance next semester. Hope this helps!

CCHS/Concord Spring 2012 admissions
I just went by the office and asked what the policy is. They said if you aren't a current student that they can't give you any information over the phone or in person. They did say that the letters didn't go out until last Wednesday so it may still be a day or two before you get yours. Good luck!

CCHS/Concord Spring 2012 admissions
You should get a letter letting you know your status (accepted, waiting list, denied). Usually if you are denied the letter will offer you a spot in the Pre-Nursing or Pre-Professional Program. I know a few people last semester that were denied that never did get an actual letter. You should call the school this morning and ask them about your status. They should be able to tell you something now that letters have gone out - there would be a copy in your file. Hope you get good news today! If you do have to go the Pre-Nursing or Pre-Professional route please don't think its the end of the world. That is how the vast majority of CCHS students (myself included) get into the ADN program. Good luck!

You should go by the office tomorrow and ask about your status. They should be able to tell you since they have notified others already. Good luck!

No, I haven't heard of anyone receiving a denial letter yet. Med Term is pretty easy, just stay on top of it and don't get behind since it's online. You can take Nutrition this spring too but I would wait and take it this summer or next fall. The online section is the way to go but it is already filled for the spring. With NSG110 and BIO100 you'll be taking a total of 6 credits which is good because you pay by the hour up until 6 then you pay the same whether you take 7-11. Sounds like you are in good shape!!!

CCHS/Concord Spring 2012 admissions
eligon3- I hope you get good news in the next few days - it sounds like you have worked really hard for it! If for some reason you aren't accepted to the ADN program, you may want to consider the Pre-Professional track as opposed to Pre-Nursing. There isn't a guarantee of acceptance, but after one semester at CCHS you can apply for the ADN as a change of major with a very good chance of getting accepted. I say that because it sounds like you have a lot of the pre-reqs done and you've been waiting for a while to get into a program. The Pre-Nursing program seems to be better for someone who isn't really in a hurry to start the program and doesn't have a lot of the pre-reqs completed. Yes there is that guarantee, but 1)there is a minimum grade requirement and 2)they usually won't accept A&P from other schools (even RCCC) so you would have to retake those. Hopefully you get into the ADN program for the spring and what I just said doesn't matter but please keep it in mind. I speak from my own experience in the Pre-Professional program and from that of others that I have gotten to know in your same situation this semester. If you have any questions please let me know. I would be happy to give more info. Good Luck : )

CCHS/Concord Spring 2012 admissions
I am a current student at CCHS. I have heard that they are going to accept approximately 22 students from outside the college for the Spring semester. It sounds like letters may go out right before Thanksgiving but the mail takes 7-10 days so don't expect anything until closer to the end of November. I did the Pre-professional program and then the change of major into nursing. If anyone wants any more info, let me know. It is a great school!!! Good luck to everyone applying : )

What is the passing score for your school?
80 in our program and they will round up from 79.5. Our final grade consists of 4 tests, a paper (which doesn't even get graded unless you have an 80 average on the tests), and clinicals are just pass/fail - so they don't really factor into our grade.

Job Predicament- Need Advice!
I would stay where you are until you get your loans paid off then re-evaluate. If you are still interested in the other hospital at that point then reapply. It's much easier to look for another job when you already have one, but who knows, by then you may be happy where you are and not want to leave. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I'm #23 on the lottery that only takes 22!!!
We just lost two due to personal reasons and it's a week before classes start. I would say you have a great chance. Act like you are in and be ready for the call when it comes. Good luck!

A&P 1 is killing me
Go to YouTube, type in "depolarization", and you'll get a ton of short videos. Watch a few and I bet you'll understand the concept in no time. Do that whenever you come across difficult A & P concepts. YouTube has been my best friend lately - it really does help. Good Luck!

CCHS Acceptance letters, Fall 2011?
cbrush, If you are still on here please send me an email. I have an invitation that I would like to send to you. Thanks! Alice [email protected]

What classes are you taking in the summer?
Middle of May thru end of July taking Intro Psychology, Intro Sociology, and World Religion at the local community college (two online and one class twice a week). Starting A&P II at the beginning of July thru the middle of August at my nursing school. That will leave me with just Nutrition this Fall in addition to my first nursing class. It's going to be a busy summer but I am looking forward to it - it's only been a week and half since spring semester ended and I am already bored without anything to study for!!!!

CCHS Acceptance letters, Fall 2011?
I do know of some students that were in the same boat as you with a lower GPA and they did get into the ADN program after a semester in the Pre-Professional program. It's not guaranteed but if you do well in your classes and get involved in school activities you will have a great chance when you apply for a change of major. Good luck at your meeting with Admissions. What time are you going to be at the school today? I have a break between 2 and 3 if you were going to be around and wanted to talk some more about the program. Just a thought : )

CCHS Acceptance letters, Fall 2011?
If you can get A's in A&P, Micro, and Medical Terminology you would be in great shape (that's what I did). You apply for a change of major right after midterm then you would find out 4-6 weeks later if you got in. Almost everyone here had to go through a semester here before being accepted. It's worth it if this is really where you want to get your degree.

CCHS Acceptance letters, Fall 2011?
Sorry that you didn't get good news. If you can take classes here for a semester in the Pre-professional program then you have a much better chance of getting in for Spring 2012. Your application is looked at differently as a change of major. So far all of this semester's change of majors have been accepted. Let me know if you want any more info!
