Thanks :) I decided to go UHM in the end, so tired of waiting. You know how it is...Out of curiosity, i still went to the orientation at kcc today, 40 plus people there, probably only 30 something are accepted out of 200 people who applied. Also sounds like about half of the people there have some sort of health care experience. Hope you find the infor useful...Anyway, dont give up! Keep on trying! You will get there! Good luck!

ummm...news to me...I didn't take any classes at KCC and never heard of that requirment...

I don't think the length of the employment matters that much. At the time I applied, I think I probably have about 8 month, which is shorter than yours. I applied with one B for my prereq, the rest are As for all the prereq and coreq completed, NLN at 139, and three coreq class missing. I talked to two counselors at KCC about my chance of getting in this time, and they didn't seem to be positive about it. They told me usually people apply with only 1 or two coreq missing at the most, having three incompleted is a little too much. However the work note will help me with few more points, so they encouraged me to try apply anyhow,which i did and was placed on the waiting list. I suggest you apply for UHM at the same time as a backup. Seems like UHM is much easier to get in, just talking from my own experience.

I always have this idea that kcc has the best reputation for nursing, so it has alway been my first choice. But I know this time my chance of gettin in was slim, since the counselor said its rare to get accepted with 3 corequisites missing, so I applied UHM as the backup, which turns out to be a wise decision... I m sure u will be accepted into UHM, if u did apply. I heard most of those who got accepted into kcc has letter of acceptance from UHM simutaneously. And u can always further ur education with UHM after ur graduation if u want to...or u can just go work right away...either way is good as long as ur are liscenced RN, I think :) congrats again! If I were u, I would be so happy!

Ya, the moment I got the acceptance letter I was. At least there is finally somewhere to go next year. No more pre-nursing work! Thank God!

You are right! I should! Just got the email today and printed out all the documents...already overwhelmed to look through all that, have not got the time to react or respond to any of that.way too much stuff for my taste... Guess that is what u call nursing!

No, I give up hope already...I just send in my deposit for spring registration at UHM...guess I will have to go with them...

Congrats gocards! Try send them back your letter of intent ASAP if you can so that you will get your health requirement paperwork in the email soon. Getting all that done seems quite overwhelming and time consuming...

Nothing fancy, just a note from my boss at the care home I am working at stating I have hands on experience with direct patient care... Very simple one. That's the same one I used at LCC to qualify my residency.

Yeah! Excited to see you all! The package doesn't exactly tell me what to do for health requirement at this point. I think it mentioned i have to wait for them to send me instruction about that after i send in my letter of intent. Did u already got the email instruction? I just receive my letter today, so havent really do anything about it yet.

I applied with three classes unfinished and a letter of recommendation, and I am on the waiting list right now. May be I m not the perfect person to talk about this since I am not even accepted, but after I talked to the counselor few times, I felt if it wasnt for my work experience, I wouldnt even make to the waiting list, even though my gardes are close to perfect and nln is decent. So yes, experience does bump to up for a little bit! But unfortunately i have to say, the most important is probably still your GPA, NLN and completion of all the corequisites and prerequisite.

hey Keala, I just got my acceptance letter like 10 minutes ago. So ecstatic and relieved! All the extra waiting is all paid off!

I am with Kcc...Well...can't complain too much...it is what it is... if it comes down to that... but I won't give up trying till i get it though...Hope to see you on campus eventually : P

I did Keala, three times in a row now...They won't discuss any of that with me over the phone, only ask me to write them an email with my name, ID and current address... I am gonna do that now! Hopefully I get anything tomorrow...The longer I wait, The less hope I have...Probably they mailed out the accepted ones first, then the rest...feeling pretty awful right now...

i am in kapolei. going on the fourth day now, counting from sat. still got nothing! i bug them almost everyday. the lady answering the phone said they won't discuss anything over the phone with me and ask me to write my name, uh id and current address in an email to them. that is what i am going to do right now... hopefully we hear something back soon...

Hi Jaybyrd09, Did the counselor at UHM specifically said the GPA from before can cause serious damage on your application?? I have never talk to a counselor there about it and happen to be in the same boat as you are. I have most As for pre-req and co-req, decent NLN, working experience but a horrible cumulative GPA thanks to my previous bachelor. I believe I barely made the 2.5 requirment...This is the first time I apply UHM. I have been always intimidated to do so because of my past...Seen from one of the posts here saying the results are being sent out...figure crossed!

Thank God! Finally!! Can't wait whether itis good or bad! How funny UHM is going back and forth on their own words. I think I asked them last week Friday, the person reponded by saying I won't be getting it till the end of next month. Anyway, thanks Keala0102 and your friend!!

I agree with Keala! I think you are in! Don't worry, don't think they will just change it for no reason! I don't remember exactly how much I got it for, since my boss went red cross and updated them for me this time. The first time I got it was when it was part of the CNA training. http://www.htcc4u.com/?page_id=155 That is the link for that CNA school I attended to. Try ask them if they provide classes just for first/aid cert. But I doubt it will be cheaper though...but you never know until you try...
