  1. Hi sdahl, Definitely feeling super/nervous excited about this whole thing starting - I went to campus yesterday to try on uniforms and it all became very real. I think a lot of discussions have moved from this forum to a social-networking-site-not-to-be-named-here, if you're looking for more information. The group name is pretty much the same as this thread's. Cheers!
  2. Hi everyone! First of all, congrats to everyone who received the WHC scholarship! Is there anyone else on here who, like me, did not receive the scholarship? I'm committed to going to Georgetown, but would love to hear different people's thoughts on scholarships/loans/etc. Cheers!
  3. I'm definitely going to Georgetown, I just haven't sent in my deposit yet. What about you? I live just east of Union Station, sort of between the Capitol Hill and H Street neighborhoods; I love it!
  4. Hi AMM, I went to the WHC Interview on Saturday, and am feeling pretty ambivalent about it. Mostly, I felt like I did not have a very good interview, but I'd be interested to hear about someone else's experience. 80% tuition would be a lot to turn down, even if WHC may not be a perfect fit in terms of what many of us may want to do (Family, Peds, Women's Health, etc), and there's something to be said for being well-rounded and having work experience in different areas. That said, I feel like I'm not going to get the scholarship anyway, so I won't worry about it! :) On a related note - my interviewer did not leave out his business card, and I can't find a way to get any contact information to send him a thank you note. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  5. This is incredibly, incredibly helpful. From all of us in the Fall 2011 ABSN thread, *thank you*!!!!! :)
  6. You're welcome! :) I'll consolidate the responses I get there and bring them back to this thread for anyone who might be interested in the WHC interview "guidance." Are there any questions re: WHC visit anyone would like me to ask? I also emailed Catherine Reisenberg today asking where we should go when we arrive at WHC (unfortunately, I've spent more time there recently than I would like, so I know it is massive and maze-like), what the interview format/time is, and if they have access to our Georgetown application materials (NursingCAS, myCollegei, supplemental). I'll let y'all know what she says once I get a response. On a completely unrelated note, I wanted to mention that I went to Georgetown undergrad (Class of 2008!) and have lived in DC ever since - so I could be a reference for anyone looking for advice re: housing, commuting, or Georgetown in general. :)
  7. Joe, Thanks so much!! If you don't mind my asking, what sorts of questions did they ask at the WHC interview? And do you remember/know if they had access to your application materials (transcripts, etc) for the Georgetown application process? I hope your first semester as a Hoya/WHC Scholar went well and that you're making it through finals with a smile; Spring on the Hilltop is incredible. If you get a chance, and haven't been, head up to the Observatory (near Yates) - that was my absolute favorite spot on campus as an undergrad. Cheers, Anne
  8. Great, thanks so much for the info! Sounds similar to the morning they have planned for us, which will be a breakfast/info session, tour, and interview. :)
  9. Hey everyone! So I'm taking a stab in the dark here that someone might read & reply to this message, though I'm sure most of you are super busy with finals. I was accepted for the ABSN program starting this Fall - we were not invited to personal interviews and all used the MyCollegeI video interview system. However, Georgetown is holding an "Experience Georgetown" afternoon for accepted students to get a feel for the program. Separate from this is a WHC interview morning, for those of us who submitted application essays for the scholarship. For your cohort, did they have a similarly separate WHC event? If so, what was the interview process like for the scholarship *only*? Everyone there will have already been accepted to the ABSN program, so we're just vying for scholarship spots. I'd love to be mentally prepared for whatever interview process they might put us through, since the scholarship would be a huge plus! Thanks very, very much!
  10. Yup, I'll be there this Saturday as well. I'm searching the boards (and trying to get in touch with WHC scholars in the Spring 2011 cohort) to see what I can find out. I'll post if I learn anything. :)
  11. Hey everyone!! This message is mostly for former/current students who might be perusing this forum, or for any prospective students who might know the answer. For the WHC Scholarship Interview Day, what all have you heard about it? It sounds like a breakfast/info session, tour, and then "interviews." Do you think it will be one larger group interview, personal interviews (if so, with who, since there seems to be just one coordinator for the program), or a practical experience? Any information would be much appreciated!! Many thanks, Anne
  12. Hi bendn, I have a friend who also applied, and as of yesterday afternoon (when I got my response), she hadn't heard anything either. Hope that helps!
  13. Hey everyone! I was just accepted as well! Now I have to decide between Georgetown and GW - is anyone else facing this choice? Feel free to send me a private message - I don't want to clog this thread with Georgetown/GW crossover! To those who haven't heard yet, best of luck, and to those who are in, congratulations!!
  14. Hey all! Has anyone had a problem filing the Declaration of Intent form? I was accepted and my offer letter said to reply by 4/8/11, but when I tried access the DoI on 4/8, the system said the deadline had passed and I couldn't respond. I have repeatedly contacted the Admissions Office, and even went in on Friday, but have not heard a word back from them. Needless to say, it's been a very frustrating experience, and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? Thanks! :)
