  1. Thank you all. I don't know if my sending a letter to Darton along with an email helped or not. I pointed out in my letter that her grandmother was a 1976 Darton (Albany Jr. College) graduate from the nursing program and I am a 1983 graduate plus I pointed out the fact that she has been working full-time at Phoebe while attending school. Maybe they looked at just the fact that she made the Dean's List last semester along with her HESI scores. Whatever they looked at, it is a relief to her and me that she made it in. :)
  2. My daughter got her acceptance letter today. So proud of her.
  3. My daughter was accepted also. I am so proud of her. I am also proud she made the Dean's List last semester.
  4. My daughter has a 3.4 GPA scored 84% overall with 72% in A&P. It was her second attempt at the HESI with application for admission to Darton's nursing since she didn't make it the last time with a 3.4 GPA 79% overall and 67% on A&P. I hope and pray she makes it this time.
  5. Overall she made 79% with 67 on A&P.
  6. My daughter took her HESI yesterday. Her overall score was 84% class average was 77% she got 72 in A&P class average was 67. Her GPA is 3.4. She has only nursing classes left. She did not make acceptance in the Spring 2011 class so I am hoping and praying they let her in this time since her current GPA and HESI score is the exact same as someone who did get in the Spring 2011 class.
  7. You just need to give yourself time. Trust me, the way you become a nurse is by working as a nurse. I was thrown into a hospital situation as a new RN three weeks after I passed boards as the only nurse on the whole hospital floor. I had no one to ask questions of. After I survived that 8 hour night shift I knew I could survive anything...nearly 28 years ago. My philosophy after was to prioritize what had to be done for my patients and then decide what I could and could not do on my shift and I always had to leave room for emergencies. Cover yourself by charting everything that is pertinent!
  8. My daughter says she isn't giving up and will retake HESI the next offering. If she is denied again she will take time off from school. I wish she wouldn't but she is grown and her choice The last two times she took the HESI were here in FL. The College of Central Florida requires a HESI score of 80 for admission in the nursing program and she just missed by a point or two both times. She transferred back to Albany to continue at Darton but they don't give the requirements for entry. Her score on the HESI was the average and I have read that some students get in with a lower HESI and GPA than she has. Your GPA is great and HESI is really high but you were denied based on classes from 1999. Must be they had way too many applicants this time.
  9. I am sorry to hear that.
  10. Did you receive your letter? Were you accepted? My daughter tried with a GPA of 3.7 has all core and pre-reqs completed and HESI score of 79 but was denied admission for fall nursing. I just don't know what is up with Darton.
  11. @success88....were you accepted for summer semester at Darton? My daughter is trying her best to get in. Her GPA is around 3.7 and she scored 79 on the HESI, but she was denied admission for summer semester in nursing. She is completing her last prereqs/core classes this semester and only has nursing left. She is going for her second try in July on the HESI and applying again. This is getting very frustrating for her and I am just wondering what is going on with Darton since it wasn't this way 30 years ago when I was a student.
