Fort Worth apartments?
Yes I agree , the hospital districts are as you say to the locals. However , working in that area it has quickly become known to the new medical workers in the area as * new hospital district *. Somehow it helps with confusion. :) As I offered , the *new* hospital district is located in the area south west of Fort Worth . Bryant Irvin Road ( south of I-20 ) is the best to discribe. Also south Hulen . There are dozens and dozens and streets and streets of new apartments and townhouses ( new as in 3-5 years ) . From the information I get the area is expected to double in medical availability in the next decade or so . There are plans for Baylor to buy and build with Harris close behind. There is already a mixture of hospital , long term care and rehab in the area . Rehab is the BIG word for the future. Good Luck! ps/ sorry it took so long to post ...I have been *on call* YUK!!

Pharm as weed out class? at HCC
Not sure check out the site first . Then decide . I just know I have a palm (given to me as a gift ) and was turned on to epocrites by a doctor. You may be able to get it to a pocket pc. I did not investigate . here is the site http://www.epocrates.com Don't be confused by it. When you first sign up it is for a trial.....if you decide not to *keep it* you still get the PDR free. It updates weekly and also gives the formularies for each state and payer sources. Check it out first then you decide ok? Good Luck

Why would they ask if I have kids????
Furthermore , most schools have an attendance policy. When I was in school a nursing student was pemitted to miss 3 days a semester ...period. If you missed more then 3 days you were *out* . Having children increases the chances of you missing more then 3 days....your *out* the seat stays empty....blah blah blah. I believe it is legal for them to ask the question after all the whole idea is to find *the best* possible students that can be taught and will pass the class.

Yes they do ask if you have children. Are you interviewing for an L.V.N. spot ? The reason is because they want your attention. Once the class starts you have so many days to drop . If you choose to drop it would be very difficult for someone else to come in and catch up. Chances are that seat will stay open the rest of the year and that isn't good for the school. Having children increases the odds you will drop. Nursing school is very demanding . Good Luck!

Pharm as weed out class? at HCC
Yes I am afraid they are from around here . Some are from Hill , others from Dallas , Concorde ....some from out of state . A few from the south . I fear due to the nursing shortage the standards and quality of nurses have been affected . For instance , I am a nurse supervisor in a large LTC , rehab , wellness and med surg facility . I am amazed at the new nurses who we hire (and let go with-in their 90 days ) due to their attitudes . They seem to think just coming to work is enough . Even though they are given orientation which includes P & P and expectations , they have the nerve to have cell phones to their ears , shrug at patients telling them " I don't know " , or going further to tell their supervisor they are "here to learn". They haven't an ounce of professionalism in them . They don't understand chain of command i.e. L.V.N. , R.N. , N.P. , P.A. , Doctor. etc. The concept of * patient advocate * is a foreign statement . Please be of the best standards you can be , we need all the help we can get , but we will not take just anyone .

Pharm as weed out class? at HCC
It wasn't so bad for me . Remember the medications are taught to you by systems . Remember also you will be learning medications your entire career . Do you have a palm pilot by any chance ? A place online called epocrites has free download of medications and it is updated weekly. It is a great way to learn . I use it everyday in my work ( because as I said "learning your entire career) . Good Luck !

I am happy to hear some schools are *weeding out* . I live and work in the Fort Worth area and the schools here should hang their heads in shame. I am so sorry , but I have never seen such a bunch of lazy uneducated nurses in my entire career . Please for your sake be happy if your school is tough , that should tell you they care about you and the community!
