  1. Totally understand how u feel,I live in Philadelphia, grad in Dec 2010.And got 0 calls or interviews in philly.
  2. All I can say is congrats to getting a job,do your best & just be confident.
  3. Yes you are most certainly right I graduated from school in Dec '10.I live in Philadelphia,I have neither gotten a call or an interview. But being told good luck,or we need experience,so I tried applying out of Philadelphia since I got quite frustrated & feared that I'll ultimately loss all the skills I learned.I applied for a job at Berwick Hospital & I thought it was rather rude that the lady stated she taught my application was a mistake since its 2hrs away & asked if I could not get a job in Philadelphia.I got an interview in Reading last Friday,my first hopefully I get the job,I really want to be a LPN.
  4. I'm an Lpn grad who hasn't even gotten an interview in Philadelphia.I volunteer at the hospital & RNs also volunteer in order for an opportunity for a job position. Most cities/town outside Philadelphia, you may have an opportunity to get a job,but in Philly its a small chance.
  5. I have no idea Steph,I keep wondering where Lpns who are working right now got started as a new nurse.I got a called yesterday from a staff agency and they asked me if I have a yr exp and I replied "No,I haven't been able to an attain any exp since everyone wants a yr exp to hire" and they replied "That's what they want too!".I thought getting a job as a nurse would be quite easy but I guess not.
  6. So I have applied countless number of places in and around Philadelphia.I have received the same responses I need a yr exp, come back when u have this experience, your resume is impressive we wish you good luck.Which as left me rather frus mytrated and I'm contemplatine maybe endorsing my license to another state preferrably New York. Also quite hesistant for fear getting a job maybe be similar to my situation in Philly. How am I ever gonna have experience if everyone tells me the same thing? So an angency that hires new grads would be quite helpful,Thanks in advance.
  7. I've seen a lot of jobs for Lpn or Rn new grads but sadly they are not in philly mostly Philipsburg and Wilkes Barres.I graduated in Dec applied for millions of jobs ,but mostly I get the same reply need a year experience.Which I'm not sure if ill ever get since I have no exp.I also applied for Cna job but was told that I needed a yr experience also.I thought it was ridiculous since my school was location near Wilkes Barre and they hired new nurses but sadly Philly is just awful I suppose.Even home health wants you to have a yr,so its like a lose lose situation.
  8. Well I live in Philadelphia and passed my Nclex in March.I have applied to quite a few nursing homes and hospitals, but I've either been told I need a year experience or they don't hire new nurses. Its been a tad frustrating applying for jobs.Someone advised me it would be best to volunteer my services at an hospital.I am aware that volunteer opportunities are not guaranteed to employment.Just quite uncertain what my responsibilities would be and how it would assist me with the LPN aspect of gaining experience. Also what's the best approach to letting them know that my reason is to gain experience relating to nursing. I am also interested with the altruistic purpose as well.Thank you!
